About Virtual Scenery Residential Space

Virtual Scenery is a residential interior design completed in Macau. The 485 square meter home takes its theme from the nearby Sai Van Lake. Different densities and angles are used to visualize the color of water and waves. The exterior and the interior share one theme with different expressions. Wood finishes add warmth, and a patterned wood floor recalls the changing lake. Back painted glass reflects light and visually extends the space. The indoor areas correspond with the outdoor surroundings, so the residents can enjoy the lake view in comfort.

Production Technology
The reflection of Sai Van Lake is bought to the interior design. The contrast of the appearance is made by the depth of colors. White frames of the building outline the shiny reflections of the lake, and the rhythmic ripples. The intermediate pathway from indoor to outdoor extends the serenity of the lake with limited space, decorated with metal fence that mimics the ripples of the lake. The gypsum ceiling in the elevator hallway quietly responds to the lake theme.
Design Challenge
The panels in the closet are metal, with the light that creates harmonious rhyme for the space. The doors of closets are back painted glass that makes the space reclusive. Generally, the choice of materials is low chroma, relieving visual pressure, bringing the serenity of the lake to the space, and slows down the pace of the users.
Research
With back painted glass that reflects the floor and light, the space is visually extended. Large door of back painted glass can introduce the scenic Sai Van Lake and daylight to inside. Electronic blinds set in the living room can adjust light and keep the user private. The air conditioning in the whole building provides suitable temperature and humidity, and also saves energy and carbon footage.
Inspiration
At sunset, the scenery reflects on the Sai Van Lake, making a poetic and picturesque scenery of virtuality. The main idea of this case is the ever-changing lake.
Project Duration
The project finished in February 2021 in Macau.
Operation Flow
The wood finishes of overall interior increase the warmth of living, and the patterned wood floor shows the changeable Sai Van Lake. The arrangement of color depth divides the area functions and increases the scale of space. As the intermediate space that connects upper floor and lower floor, the stairs impress the users with black metal bars and champagne handrails of vivid colors. Regular color proportion creates such visual extension that connects two areas.
