About Chick Coin Motion Graphic Design
Chick Coin is an animated advertisement made for a part-time job matching platform for students in Taiwan. The film runs for forty seconds in full high definition at twenty-four frames per second. Two brand characters see the financial difficulties of students shown on a television screen. A magic coin slot then carries the characters into a carefree and cheerful world, and the real world changes as well. The animation combines hand drawing with digital illustration and compositing software. The humorous plot and the visual effects aim to link the brand with young viewers.

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
To me,”design” is a form to deliver information, whether it is through a simple or a continuous image. A good design is to create a charming narrative while meeting client’s needs at the same time. Most of my inspiration comes from animated films and video games. Those stories always attract me and become indispensable parts of my life. But I guess many things just go with the flow, even inspiration. Of course, my team plays an important role in it.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
First, attain the results of the clients. Then, make a total different work as before. Finally, we decided to go with surreal style, making the chick have a funny and magic adventure.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
Turning such recognitions into motivation to create better works again.

- Chickpt is one of the largest part-time job matching platform for students in Taiwan. Through the cute and humorous advertisement, Aim to bridge the distance between the brand and the young generations in addition to developing the brand charm. Viewers could enjoy the splendid visual effects and amusing plot and embark on the fantasy journey.

- Design Challenge
- While working on this project, put a lot of effort and spent a lot of time on how to use the visual metaphor while making the film looks smoothly.
- Research
- First studied the core value of the brand then developed plot by what will target audience be drawn to. Wrote the title song as well to strengthen the brand charm and to build the cohesiveness of audience.
- Inspiration
- The two charismatic brand character starred in video. Through the metaphor on the TV screen, the two feels and understands the financial difficulties of students. However, the magic coin slot twist makes the characters get into the carefree and jolly world, which implies platform solves all the financial issues student generation got. In the end, the real world changes as well.
- Project Duration
- The project kick-off was on July 21th 2021 in Taiwan and final delivery of this video/version was on November 18th 2021 in Taiwan.
