About Hengpro Table Lamp

Hengpro breaks the tradition way to turn on the lamp. The whole table lamp does not seem to have a main power switch or button. We just need to lift the small ball placed on the base and attract the small ball hanging in the light frame to achieve a balance to light the lamp. Hengpro has innovated a new interactive way of table lamps.

Shenzhen Zan Design Co., Ltd.'s Hengpro Table Lamp emerges from a rich tradition of reimagining functional objects as contemplative sculptural forms, participating in the contemporary discourse surrounding the intersection of lighting design and kinetic interaction. The work demonstrates remarkable formal restraint, employing a vocabulary of pure geometric elements—the elongated oval, the sphere, the cylinder—arranged with precision that suggests both mathematical harmony and organic grace. The innovative magnetic switching mechanism, wherein suspended spheres connect to complete the circuit and illuminate the integrated LED element, transforms the quotidian act of activating a light source into a moment of tactile engagement and visual delight. This presentation positions the fixtures within a carefully orchestrated tableau of traditional pleated fans, establishing a dialogue between contemporary industrial design methodology and established craft traditions rooted in Eastern material culture. The chromatic unity achieved through the saturating red palette carries associations of celebration, prosperity, and auspicious beginnings, while the gold spherical accents introduce complementary warmth and material preciousness. Technically, the seamless integration of electronic components within the minimal frame demonstrates sophisticated engineering, while the refined surface treatments—from silky matte housings to mirror-polished activation spheres—evidence exceptional attention to tactile experience. The composition invites consideration of how designed objects might serve simultaneously as functional instruments, aesthetic presences, and interactive experiences, encouraging viewers to contemplate the expanding boundaries of what illumination devices might become when approached with sculptural sensibility and playful innovation.

Unique Properties
Hengpro breaks the tradition way to turn on the lamp. The whole table lamp does not seem to have a main power switch or button. We just need to lift the small ball placed on the base and attract the small ball hanging in the light frame to achieve a balance to light the lamp. The lamp could be switched between warm and cold light and the brightness of the light could be adjusted, by touching the lamp sides. Hengpro has innovated a new interactive way of table lamps.

Production Technology
The products are now mass-produced by molds to achieve standardization. ABS plastic and LED modules inside the products guarantee excellent quality and more suitable price.
Design Challenge
As an innovative design, the product has complicated structure inside which makes the processing yield the biggest challenge.
Project Duration
The program started in Guangzhou in May 2016, completed in Shenzhen in August 2019, and exhibited in Shenzhen in April 2019.
Operation Flow
Raise the small ball placed on the base upward, and attract the ball above to light Hengpro ; touch the side of the lamp base to switch between warm and cold light and adjust the light brightness; put the lower ball back finally to the lamp base, which is attracted to the magnet on the base, and the light is turned off.
Research
Since current lamps on the market have very traditional switches or buttons. Featuring unique and interesting switching method, this products have greater market value. Let people see the value of designer. At the same time, this products terminal retail price is not costly, to make good design available to everyone.
Inspiration
Inspired by the traditional pull switch, the structure of this pull switch has been changed and applied to the switch mode of the table lamp. Connected to the lamp switch, the small ball on the base has a magnet inside, when it is drawn by the ball hanging in the frame, the switch is pulled and the lamp is lit.
