About Yida Creation City Exhibition Center
Yida Creation City is an urban exhibition center built as the first project of a science and technology new town base in Zhengzhou, China. The design concept is floating polysilicon, expressed as a simple polyhedron form that refers to the information technology industry. The floating volume is wrapped in a milky white U-shaped glass curtain wall. The first floor holds exhibition and reception space, the second floor a conference and roadshow hall, and the third floor shared offices. The floating volume also links the central park and the civic park into one park system.
The Yida Creation City Exhibition Center by Ling Chen represents a distinguished achievement in contemporary institutional architecture, demonstrating sophisticated command of material, light, and spatial sequence that positions the work within evolving traditions of exhibition facility design. The building's most striking formal gesture involves the suspended luminous volume, a rectangular mass clad in vertically striated translucent panels that transform the structure into a beacon during twilight hours, suggesting influences from both minimalist architectural traditions and the contemplative light-focused works of architects who have explored the boundary between solid and void. The technical accomplishment lies in the façade system's ability to modulate internal illumination, creating graduated luminosity that softens the boundary between interior and exterior while maintaining architectural presence. The compositional arrangement of the forecourt demonstrates careful attention to processional experience, with the central pathway flanked by precisely trimmed hedgerows establishing an axis of approach that both welcomes and ceremonializes the act of entry. The glass podium level introduces visual permeability at the human scale, allowing glimpses into interior spaces while supporting the impression of weightlessness above. The chromatic strategy proves particularly effective during the captured blue hour conditions, where the building's warm illumination achieves maximum contrast against the cooling sky, transforming the structure into a civic landmark visible across considerable distance. The relationship between architectural geometry and organic landscape elements creates dialogue between cultivated nature and built form, suggesting the exhibition center as a threshold between urban and contemplative experiences. - As the first project and urban exhibition hall of Yida science and technology new town base, the project is located in the northwest corner of the whole park. It is rooted in the site environment. Through the floating volume, it connects the inward Central Park with the civic urban park to form a large park system. The floating building volume reflects the future value of the area by giving it a white jade image.

- Design Challenge
- The first floor of the building is mainly for urban exhibition space and negotiation and reception functions, and a large area of floor glass curtain wall better connects the indoor and outdoor landscape vision. The second floor is the conference roadshow space, which serves the park and meets the needs of enterprise product release and large scale conference in the park. The third floor is the joint office space, which is set in combination with the third space to interpret the office mode of Yida new era.

- The project started in 2018 in Zhengzhou, Henan and finished in 2019 ,and put into use in 2020.
- Operation Flow
- The formal language rising at the corner of the building shapes a flexible and powerful facade image, while the interior of the rising part corresponds to the functional space of the roadshow hall and the lecture hall, and the facade shape is coordinated and unified with the internal space
- Research
- The project is an integrated design of architecture and landscape. The outdoor ceiling on the first floor adopts matte stainless steel ceiling, which reflects each other with the landscape water system below, forming a dialogue between the building and the landscape.
- Inspiration
- The exhibition center takes "floating polysilicon" as the design concept, presents the image IP of the information technology industry in a concise and powerful polyhedron form, and realizes the dialogue between the exhibition function and the north and South landscape parks.
