About Yueji Diffuse Space Meditation Room
The essence of Yueji Diffuse Space is to design a tranquil and pure, but exceedingly warm and real space. including spiritual rehab, tea ceremony and yoga. At the top of the room,a courtyard serves as the centre of motion lines and penetrates the entire space. It flows the air of the building, creates a thorough field of view and brings inside the outdoor sunshine. Sunlight will pass through the courtyard into the room, and as time goes, its light and dark system changes.
Haibo Liu's Yueji Diffuse Space Meditation Room represents a distinguished contribution to contemporary contemplative architecture, demonstrating how material restraint and geometric precision can generate profound spatial poetry. The design engages deeply with vernacular building traditions, employing earth-toned plaster surfaces and terracotta flooring that evoke ancestral dwelling typologies while maintaining thoroughly contemporary spatial sensibilities. The circular window aperture functions as both practical light source and symbolic element, its perfect geometry suggesting cosmic order and cyclical time within an environment dedicated to reflection and gathering. Technical accomplishment is evident throughout, from the sophisticated modulation of natural light through multiple apertures to the careful calibration of surface textures that create visual richness within chromatic restraint. The clerestory arrangement introduces graduated illumination across ceiling planes, transforming what might have been static surfaces into dynamic fields of subtle tonal variation throughout the day. Material choices demonstrate thoughtful consideration of sensory experience, with the warm oak table and rush seating providing tactile counterpoint to mineral wall surfaces, while the single botanical element introduces living presence without disrupting the meditative atmosphere. The composition rewards sustained attention to the interplay between curved and rectilinear forms, between the penetrating light of the oculus and the more diffused overhead illumination, between the enveloping warmth of the primary space and the cooler passage glimpsed through the doorway. This work invites contemplation of how architectural space shapes human experience, how material choices carry cultural memory, and how light itself becomes a medium for creating environments that support inner stillness.

- Unique Properties
- We use pure material to express a relaxing circumstance with a primitive appearance. One side of the building heads towards the lake while on its both sides sprayed thickly dotted residences. We wish to concentrate people’s vision to a certain angle of the lake and prevent distraction from external environment, therefore we dredge motion lines and light shadows on both sides of the building to lead the centre of their vision towards the lake. In the whole space, we create multiple sightseeing angles to bring lake scenery outside inside.
