About Estrella Barware Series

Estrella is a barware series made of automated pressed soda-lime glass. The collection has 11 pieces, including glasses for whiskey, shots, wine, martinis, coupes, cocktails, long drinks and water. The design draws on kaleidoscopic star motifs, and the name Estrella means star in Spanish. Light bends and refracts across the patterned surfaces. The star decorations also create a non-slip surface that is easy to grip. The production method gives the series the strength needed for frequent washing in bars and restaurants, as well as for use at home.

Sisecam's Estrella Barware Series emerges within the contemporary renaissance of decorative glassmaking that honors centuries-old techniques while embracing modern aesthetic sensibilities and functional requirements for hospitality and domestic environments. The distinctive star-burst faceting pattern covering the vessel surfaces represents a sophisticated marriage of mathematical precision and organic beauty, where each cut plane creates new opportunities for light interaction, transforming the simple act of holding a beverage into a multisensory experience of visual pleasure. The presentation strategy employed here situates these functional objects within an evocative forest environment, suggesting that the experience of drinking transcends mere hydration to become a moment of connection with natural beauty and contemplative pause. The chromatic sophistication of the styled beverages—one exhibiting dramatic purple-to-white gradient stratification, the other presenting uniform rose-tinted opacity—demonstrates how the faceted surfaces interact differently with various liquid densities and colorations, creating kaleidoscopic effects that shift with viewing angle. Technical accomplishment manifests in the precision of each geometric cut, the uniformity of pattern repetition, and the optical clarity that allows internal contents to remain visible while simultaneously fragmenting and multiplying their appearance. The curatorial choice to nest these vessels among living moss, weathered wood, and forest ferns invites consideration of glassmaking's ancient relationship with natural elements—silica from sand, fire for transformation, and the human desire to contain and present nature's gifts in vessels worthy of their contents. One might observe how the cool botanical setting enhances perception of the beverages as refreshing while the warm accent of bark provides welcoming earthiness. Viewers are invited to consider how everyday functional objects, when crafted with artistry and intention, elevate quotidian rituals into moments of aesthetic appreciation and sensory delight.

Production Technology
Crafted with automated pressed soda-lime glass, the Estrella collection embodies the fusion of artisanal quality and industrial sustainability.
Design Challenge
Applying star motifs proportionally to all glasses in the series in the same size wasn't easy. When all glasses stood side by side, all glasses needed to appear harmonious with each other, and it had to be possible to extract and cast from the mold in terms of production criteria.
Project Duration
The project began in 2020 the reseach, development and the production of the whole serie was finalized in 2023. Estrella barware series was lastly exhibited in Ambiente fair in 2024.
Research
The most noticeable point observed in the research was the intention to create a durable and elegant bar series, specifically tailored to venues with high turnover such as bars and restaurants, where products are frequently washed and dried, aiming for resilience against breakage.
Inspiration
The Estrella Barware series draws inspiration from kaleidoscopic star motifs and encompasses an exquisite collection. The name 'Estrella,'which means 'star'in Spanish, perfectly captures the essence of this collection.Light bends and refracts across these surfaces, much like it does when traveling through the cosmos, brings a celestial dance to the enjoyment of a well-crafted drink. The non-slip surface and star decorations also make them convenient and easy to grab.
