About Frequency Furniture
Frequency is a limited edition furniture collection composed of a lounge chair, lamp, chair, and side table, each inspired by sound frequencies associated with healing and emotional balance. Made from polished aluminum, the pieces were developed using sound visualizers and digital modeling, then crafted through traditional casting techniques. The collection transforms intangible sound waves into tactile, sculptural forms that invite sensory interaction and emotional connection.

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
I have always been fascinated by the invisible power of sound and vibration. Frequency was born from my interest in understanding how something intangible can deeply affect our emotions, our body and even our perception of space.
The collection explores the relationship between sound frequencies, cymatics and physical form. I became interested in how vibration can generate patterns and geometries in matter, and how those invisible forces could be translated into sculptural furniture and objects.
More than creating functional pieces, I wanted to create objects that feel emotional and almost meditative, pieces that transmit calm, presence and contemplation through their forms and materiality.
What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
My main focus was to create a collection that connects art, design and sensory experience into one language.
I wanted the pieces to feel timeless and sculptural, while still maintaining functionality and comfort. Each object was designed as if it were a physical manifestation of vibration, almost as if sound had been frozen into matter.
Another important goal was to create an emotional atmosphere. I wanted people to feel something beyond the object itself: stillness, curiosity, introspection and connection.
What are your future plans for this award winning design?
I see Frequency as an evolving body of work rather than a finished collection. My intention is to continue expanding the universe through new typologies, materials and scales.
I am currently interested in exploring larger sculptural pieces, immersive installations, lighting and spatial experiences connected to sound, vibration and sensory perception.
I also hope to continue presenting the collection internationally and collaborating with galleries, cultural institutions and design platforms around the world.

- The Frequency collection is an experimental design proposal that combines art and functionality, drawing inspiration from sound frequencies to promote healing and well being. Using advanced technology, such as sound visualizers, the ergonomic shapes of the pieces were designed to adapt to the body, creating a balanced emotional and physical experience. The use of aluminum, crafted with artisanal techniques, not only highlights the tradition of pre Hispanic metallurgy enriched by Spanish influence but also explores the contemporary possibilities of this noble material. These limited edition sculptural objects stand out for their technical precision and their ability to bring a sense of calm and harmony to the spaces they inhabit. This innovative collection reflects a balance between tradition and technology, achieving unique furniture pieces that connect design with profound emotions and cultural heritage.
- Design Challenge
- The main challenge was materializing invisible sound frequencies into ergonomic and symbolic forms. Internally, the design had to balance cultural references and modern aesthetics. Externally, aluminum casting required precise execution to maintain both structural integrity and surface quality, blending experimental methods with traditional metalwork to achieve emotional resonance.
- Research
- Experimental design research translated sound frequencies into visual and ergonomic forms using sound visualizers. Focused on emotional healing through interaction, the project mapped frequencies such as 432Hz and 741Hz into material patterns. Research participants reported enhanced sensory and emotional response. The study bridges aesthetics, psychology, and artisanal techniques for well-being through design.
- Inspiration
- The idea is to explore how the intangible, like sound, can be transformed into a physical and perceptible form. Inspired by the transformative power of healing sound frequencies, Frequency 2.0 explores how resonance can be translated into physical form. Drawing from cymatics and spiritual acoustics, the project visualizes frequencies like 432Hz and 741Hz through sound visualizers, creating objects that channel emotional balance and clarity. The inspiration lies in creating emotional connections through sensory interaction and intentional form.
- Project Duration
- The project began in January 2024 and concluded in May 2025 in Mexico City. Frequency 2.0 was presented in June 2025 as a continuation of Sebastian Angeles’ exploration of the relationship between sound and matter.
- Operation Flow
- Each piece invites tactile and emotional interaction. The chairs’ ergonomic shapes adapt to the body, offering comfort and symbolic resonance. The lamp creates ambient calm through diffused light, while the side table’s surface evokes harmony. Aluminum amplifies sensory cues with subtle vibrations, reinforcing the connection between user, space, and sound-based intention.
