Interviews

Design Interview

What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?

This design draws on traditional oriental energy regulation wisdom. I crafted this bodhi leaf jewelry with natural gemstones to match and harmonize the wearer’s innate personal energy constitution. The piece provides gentle and steady vital force suited for its owner to soothe body and mind, turning this ancient adaptive wisdom into wearable art jewelry.

What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?

My main goal was to craft a delicate bodhi leaf setting that fits the unique shape of this natural conch pearl perfectly. I also customised the design to suit the wearer’s personal energy characteristics. I wanted to make a practical piece of art jewellery that brings peace and steady comfort to its owner in daily wear.

What are your future plans for this award winning design?

This original work has been purchased by a private collector. I will refer to the bodhi leaf design and the customised design idea for the wearer to develop new jewellery pieces for future clients.

Grand Interview

The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry stands as a remarkable convergence of Eastern metaphysics and high jewelry artistry, particularly in the way it maps the Five Elements across five distinct materials, from 18K gold representing Metal to the rare conch pearl embodying Earth. What aspect of this elemental framework are you most proud of, and how do you feel the tangible experience of wearing The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry translates that ancient cosmic philosophy into something felt rather than simply seen?

What I love most about this material concept comes from a core belief rooted in Eastern tradition: we can only hold full, positive energy when our natural life forces stay balanced. If any part of this balance is missing, our inner energy will always feel incomplete. This is why I designed this bodhi leaf piece with five carefully selected materials — 18K gold, diamonds, emeralds, amethyst and rare conch pearl — all set along the leaf’s natural veins. Every material serves a clear purpose: to fill gaps in each client’s unique energy and bring them a harmonious state that fits their personal needs. Creating jewellery that actively supports and balances the wearer is what I value most about this design structure. You do not only appreciate its beauty when you wear this piece; you can truly feel the ancient logic of balance for yourself. Resting close to your body all day, it carries complete, steady life energy with you. As you move, light glints off the diamonds, emeralds and amethyst, showing how all natural forces flow and work together. This work is much more than simple ornamentation — it is a gentle carrier of balanced energy. Instead of just looking at decorative stones and metal, you feel a quiet sense of wholeness within. The old idea of balance stops being an abstract concept and becomes a calm, reassuring feeling that stays with you through everyday life.

There is growing global interest in jewelry that carries genuine cultural and spiritual significance rather than purely decorative value, and The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry speaks directly to that longing with its integration of Bodhi leaf symbolism, lotus imagery, and Feng Shui principles rooted in Eastern tradition. How do you believe The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry reframes the contemporary conversation around what high jewelry can mean to the person wearing it, particularly for those navigating the relationship between personal energy and material beauty?

Across the globe, more and more people move away from jewellery that exists merely for decoration. They yearn for pieces with genuine cultural and spiritual depth, and The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry fully satisfies this heartfelt desire, woven with bodhi leaf symbolism, lotus imagery and ancient Eastern balancing principles.I firmly believe surface beauty is never enough for fine jewellery. Cultural and spiritual meaning is extremely important, and every design carries its own unique story to share with clients. Without a sincere story, a jewel loses its soul and becomes empty ornament. To me, jewellery is the medium through which designers pass on their core philosophy.I also think the truest form of luxury comes from truly understanding your client and pouring genuine care and love into every detail of the design. This tender affection embedded within the craft matters far more than precious stones alone. This bodhi leaf piece reshapes how the world sees contemporary high jewellery. It breaks the stereotype that luxury only equals dazzling material glamour, proving outer beauty can coexist harmoniously with inner peace and balanced personal energy. For those caught between pursuing stunning aesthetics and nurturing their inner vitality, this work delivers a fresh perspective: fine jewellery can adorn your appearance while wrapping you in quiet warmth, balancing your outward elegance and inner wellbeing all at once.

The sourcing of the 5.9 carat wild conch pearl at the heart of The One Bodhi Leaf Art Jewelry, a search that consumed nearly a year of dedicated effort, speaks to an extraordinary commitment to energetic and material integrity that goes far beyond conventional gemstone selection. In what ways do you believe this philosophy of sourcing stones for their energy rather than simply their visual properties could influence broader conversations within the jewelry design community about the relationship between natural rarity and spiritual intention?

It took me nearly a full year to track down the 5.9-carat wild conch pearl for this piece. Unlike most designers who select gems based only on visual perfection or market rarity, my core standard lies in the instant eye connection between the client and the stone. My client searched through countless pearls for a very long time, yet none resonated with him until he laid eyes on this one—he fell for it at first sight immediately. This destined affinity is my starting point, and I then craft the full design to align with his Five Elements energy traits. This sourcing mindset offers a new perspective for the whole jewellery design community on natural rarity and spiritual intention. I do not dismiss the value of a gem’s natural scarcity, but I challenge the industry’s one-sided belief that rarity and appearance alone determine a great jewel. It highlights that spiritual intention comes first from the natural bond between wearer and stone, that instant mutual fondness at first sight which cannot be forced. Natural rarity is a precious natural asset, while genuine spiritual meaning stems from this karmic match, plus customised design tailored to the wearer’s unique inner energy. If this way of thinking spreads among designers, the industry will move past blind pursuit of eye-catching, scarce gemstones. More creators will balance the appreciation of rare natural materials with sincere spiritual care, prioritising whether a stone strikes a natural, instant chord with its owner and harmonises with their personal energy. This adds profound, heartfelt soul to fine jewellery far beyond surface material value.

Design Challenge
To create this piece was to pursue harmony in every detail. The greatest challenge lay not in craft alone, but in finding stones that carried the right energy — rare, balanced, and full of life.
