The Design
About Helpmet Hitteslag Voorkomingshelm

- Unique Properties
- Helpmet helps avoid heat stroke by monitoring and alerting workers who are suffering from the hot weather and intense labour to take a break at the moment.
Through the sound, vibration, light source to remind the mildly ill workers to rest on time, and through the client‘s guidance content to workers popularise the correct and efficient way to avoid heatstroke. - Dimensions & Packaging
- Weight: about 500g
Helmet shell: 310mm*230mm*210mm - Tags
- Health Application, Wearable Device, Heat Stroke Solution, Sound and Vibration Alert, APP Feedback On Physical Condition
- Production Technology
- Production process: injection molding, shell processing, painting, assembly, quality inspection, packaging The overall use of semi-automated production process.
Use of materials:
Plastic parts: PC and ABS to increase the strength, hardness and low-temperature impact resistance.
Helmet straps and fabrics: nylon
Head cushioning parts: natural rubber - Design Challenge
- We need to ensure the structural strength of the helmet itself while adding the sensor module. Balance the control of the total weight of the product, cost control, cost increase caused by the popularity of the product, the rate of loss.
- Research
- We use the Internet to check the pathogenesis, pathogenesis process, and treatment of pyrexia, interview construction workers to understand the working environment and the problems they face, simulate the pathogenesis process of construction workers based on the results of the query, query the design standards of helmets, use sensors to test the function of temperature monitoring, monitor the reasonableness of the design of the structure and the structural strength of the structure by using 3d printing and calculate the capacity of the battery based on the selection of components.
- Inspiration
- While the demand for human construction continues to grow, the intensity and frequency of heatwaves are increasing year after year, and we need to consider the risks and rights of the vulnerable group of construction workers. Heat stroke is not easy to recognise because of the similarity of symptoms to many common diseases, but the consequences of its onset are extremely serious. We need real-time monitoring and timely warnings before severe heat stroke causes irreversible damage.
- Project Duration
- The project started in August 2023 in Shanghai and finished in November 2023, and won the IDA Gold Award in January 2024.
- Operation Flow
- After receiving the helmet, users pair it with their cell phone app to activate it. This links the app to the helmet, facilitating access to measurement data, staff sign information, and location. The helmet monitors vital signs, emitting sound and vibration for breaks if abnormalities occur. In critical situations, an alarm light activates, notifying the manager for timely action.
