About Archipelago Gardd Sioe
Mae'r ardd sioe swynol hon, a ddewiswyd ar gyfer Ffair Gerddi Ryngwladol Suncheon a gynhaliwyd rhwng Ebrill a Hydref 2023, yn cipio golygfeydd arfordirol wedi'u hysbrydoli gan Fôr y De Corea Ddeheuol. Gan ddefnyddio tywod ar gyfer modelu cysyniad a sganio laser ar gyfer dylunio topograffig, mae'n amlygu harddwch naturiol yr arfordir ac yn arddangos dylunio gerddi arloesol. Mae'r asiad hwn o gelfyddyd, technoleg a natur yn gwahodd ymwelwyr i ymgolli yn harddwch a chreadigrwydd pensaernïaeth tirwedd, gan gorffori'r cytgord rhwng natur a dyfeisgarwch dynol.

- Unique Properties
- This show garden, chosen as the artist's garden for the Suncheon International Garden Fair taking place from April to October 2023, was designed around the theme of coastal scenery. Drawing inspiration from the coastal and island forms of the South Sea of South Korea, we used sand to conduct concept modeling and express the topography of the coast. This was then followed by a topographical design process using laser scanning.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- Creative materials were evaluated with the aim of deriving design forms. The sand was chosen for the conceptual modeling process due to the diversity of creative forms it can generate. The resulting creative form can then progress to the next stage of the design process through precise 3D laser scanning.

- Production Technology
- This project introduced an art psychotherapy course featuring a virtual client. The designs were initially inspired by creations made using sand. This sand-derived artwork served as the starting point for the design process. The design lines for the concept were extracted through laser scanning of the sand model. Subsequently, shapes were realized via laser CNC processing, which enabled the expression of irregular lines inherent in the sand model. This work utilized 3D laser scanning technology and precision laser CNC technology.
- Design Challenge
- In the process of assembling each shape, which was cut with precision by CNC, difficulties arose due to unforeseen field conditions.
- Research
- The process unfolds as follows:
We employ sand, a highly mutable material, to craft a topographic model.
The resulting creative terrain models are then examined using a laser scanner. In this case, we utilized a Leica RTC 360 for the 3D laser scanning.
The scanning results yield contour lines generated through three-dimensional modeling work using software tools like Cyclone, Rhino, and AutoCAD. These produced contours are well-prepared for utilization in the subsequent stages of the design process. - Inspiration
- 'Inspired by the coastal scenery of the South Sea of South Korea, the installation art piece was meticulously designed.
- Project Duration
- 22/9/2022~17/3/2023,
Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, Republic of Korea - Operation Flow
- It would be better if we focused on the form of each part of the work through the creation of a sense of space.
