Regarding Aluminum Side Table
Aluminum is a bedside table designed to make storage simple and easy to reach. The table is fitted with a drawer and a recessed niche, so items can be put away and found even in the dark. An integrated light source in the top compartment is operated by touching the table top, and its inset position lights the surrounding space. The body is cut from aluminum with a water jet and bent on a press brake. The surface is sandblasted and anodized, and the sliders are 3D printed. The table measures 340 by 360 by 500 mm.

Ondřej Ryšavý is a product and industrial designer born in Brno in 1994. He designs furniture, tools and digital packaging products. In 2020, he completed a master's degree in furniture design. The designer adheres to a purist and honest approach with respect to the material and precise craftsmanship.The designer emphasizes the essence and usefullness of the product. The longevity of the product and its entire cycle from production to reuse of the material is important for the designer.

- Unique Properties
- Great emphasis has been given to the functionality of the storage space.In addition to a drawer, the bedside table is fitted with a recessed niche, which gives users considerable security and ease of access when storing and putting away items even in the dark. Another outstanding feature is the integrated light source in the top compartment, operated by touching the table top, which thanks to its inset position suitable lights up the space.
- Inspiration
- The goal was to create a product with a sincere and timeless design. The aim was to highlight the essence of the product and to make the time spent on the bed more pleasant.
- Research
- In early creation, 3D printing was used to create a model, which was then used to determine ideal proportions. In the next phase, it was necessary to solve the resistances in electrical engineering during the implementation of the touch switch and achieving the correct function.
- Challenge
- The most difficult point was shaping and working with aluminum and integrating touch technology.
- Realization and Technology
- The aluminum used was cut with a water jet and bent on a press brake.The aluminum surface is sandblasted and finally anodized. The sliders are 3D printed.
- Operation and Interaction
- Easy touch switch and easily accessible storage spaces. Opening the drawer is intuitive and more individual, because it does not focus on the solid handle and the touch switch motivates to touch, which makes the bedside table more intimate.
