Dongyi Dunhuang est un hôtel situé à proximité du désert, à Dunhuang, dans la province du Gansu, en Chine. La conception s'inspire de l'architecture traditionnelle du nord-ouest de la région, tels que les murs de terre locaux et les séchoirs. Les murs sont édifiés en pisé réalisé à partir de terre produite localement : l'hôtel dégage ainsi une impression de sérénité et semble surgir du paysage environnant. Le terrain couvre 41 541 mètres carrés et la surface bâtie atteint 10 299 mètres carrés. Le plan répond à l'idée d'une retraite paisible. Les hôtes peuvent s'y reposer et découvrir l'histoire ainsi que les paysages naturels de Dunhuang.

- What Dongyi Dunhuang plans is a place that can be hidden from the world and has an oriental aesthetic attitude.
"Hidden" is a unique and culturally significant behavior of the Chinese literati group. This kind of "hidden" temperament is often appealed to the image of boldness in the vast northwestern desert, retreating in the prosperous world, and clarifying oneself in the sparse world, declaring a kind of vigor and spirit, just like the Dongyi Dunhuang. - Durée du Projet
