About Under the Bodhi Tree Dearadh Taobh Istigh Árasáin
Is éard atá i Under the Bodhi Tree ná taobh istigh árasáin chónaithe i Taichung, Taiwan, a chlúdaíonn achar inmheánach 114 méadar cearnach. Ritheann prás, adhmad agus tonnaí dubha tríd an teach ar fad. Cuireadh troscán agus scáileáin in ionad ballaí deighilte nach raibh gá leo, rud a mhéadaigh an seomra suí agus a dhealaigh a fheidhmeanna óna chéile. Iompraíonn na ballaí, na síleáil agus na hurláir struchtúir adhmaid trí thoise a chuireann comhsheasmhacht agus doimhneacht leo. Tá halla an Bhúda íostach agus aonchlochach. Tugann an pailéad datha ithreach carachtar suaimhneach síoraí don spás agus maolaíonn sé an teorainn idir an baile agus an timpeallacht nádúrtha.

- Unique Properties
- Three elements brass, wood and black flow throughout the entire apartment. Unnecessary partition walls were replaced with furniture and screens, so as to enlarge the living room space, while also differentiating between its various functions. In a departure from tradition, the Buddha hall is both minimalist and monolithic. The aura like glow of the Buddha provides a sense of warmth, gently drawing people into the space. Surrounded by natural elements, from both within and outside, the occupant might feel as though they are bearing witness to the buddha achieving enlightenment under the Bodhi tree all those years ago.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- This project covers an internal space totaling 114 square meters, excluding balconies. The layout comprises an entry corridor, living room, dining room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 guest toilet and a sky outdoor garden.

- Wood element is also a key feature in this project. Walls, ceilings and floors are adorned with three dimensional wooden structures, creating a sense of consistency as well as depth. The untamed lines that run through every panel of wood can be compared to a fingerprint each one unique from the next, as if handcrafted by Mother Nature herself.
- Design Challenge
- Different textures and tones of the wood reveal the beauty of natural materials and lets the elegance of the stunning spatial layout speak for itself. Meanwhile, the earthy colour palette not only brings a timeless character to the space, but also blurs the lines between the home and natural environment.
- Research
- The elements of wood, black and brass enhance design styles, so as to create a warm and welcoming interior, and also complement most styles of furniture. It explores the interdependence between the spiritual and material, inside and outside, nature and what we call home.

- Project Duration
- This project started in September 2020 and completed in December 2020 in Taichung, Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- The predominantly wooden interior creates an atmosphere filled with wonder, enchantment and warmth. Consistent use of material creates dimension and depth, with natural wooden texture direction and tone gradient. This continual flow creates frame openings, drawing the occupant attention to the detail found in the interior and its landscape, without being overly-imposing. The large generous open volume is designed to bring out the occupants gregarious nature during the day, while also preparing them for rest in the evening.
