Ka Hoʻolālā

E Pili Ana iā God's Math Ka Hana Nui: Pahu Pālaka

Kikokikona Puke: ʻO ke Kanaka Helu a ke Akua he pahu pālaka i hoʻoulu ʻia e nā kumu helu i loaʻa ma ke ʻano nohona. ʻO ka wili Fibonacci ke kumu hoʻolālā waena, a ua puni ʻia ia e ka helu gula a me ke pōʻai. Ua kūkulu ʻia ka wili ma ke ʻano he ʻōnaehana kila i hoʻohuiʻia me ke ahi, e kākoʻo a e hele aʻe i loko o ke kino lāʻau. Loaʻa i ka pahu pālaka ʻelua puka a me ʻekolu keʻena, a kau ʻia ma kahi kiʻekiʻe i koho ʻia no ka hoʻohana ʻoluʻolu. ʻO nā papa lāʻau wili ʻana o ka rosewood, birdseye maple, a me ke cocobolo e hōʻemi ana i ka nui o ka lāʻau paʻa e pono ai. He 1219 mm ka laulā, 508 mm ka hohonu, a me 1981 mm ke kiʻekiʻe o ka pahu pālaka.

Ka Hoʻomaikai

E Pili Ana i ka A' Design Award Hao

Ua lanakila ka hoʻolālā God's Math Ka Hana Nui: Pahu Pālaka i ka A' Design Award Hao, he ʻike hoʻohanohano i hāʻawi ʻia i nā hoʻolālā maikaʻi e hoʻokō ana i nā koi ʻoihana a ʻoihana hana i manaʻo ʻia mai nā mea hoʻokumu i hana maikaʻi ʻia. Hōʻike nā lanakila Hao i ka mākau nui, ka loea kiʻekiʻe, ka ʻike akamai a me ka hiki hana noʻeau o ka poʻe i hana iā lākou. Manaʻo ʻia ʻo ka hoʻolālā God's Math Ka Hana Nui: Pahu Pālaka he mea hoʻokumu i mahalo nui ʻia, hoʻohiwahiwa ʻia a aloha ʻia e pono a hou. ʻO kēia hoʻolālā i lanakila i ka A' Design Award Hao e hoʻohui ana i nā hana maikaʻi loa o ka ʻoihana a loaʻa nā ʻano ʻenehana mākaukau i hui pū ʻia me ka ʻike hana a me ka makakoho. Mahalo ʻia ka hoʻolālā God's Math Ka Hana Nui: Pahu Pālaka no kona nānā pono a ua hoʻolālā ʻia e hāʻawi i nā hoʻomaikaʻi ola e kōkua ai i ka hana ʻana i ka honua i wahi maikaʻi aku.

Ma Hope o ka Hoʻolālā

ʻEke Nūhou

Nā hōʻoia, nā lālā hui a me nā kikoʻī ʻenehana i hāʻawi ʻia e ka mea hoʻolālā.

God's Math successfully melds multiple reoccurring mathematical phenomena in nature into an aesthetically pleasing and fully functional interplay of these phenomena, with the Fibonacci Spiral serving as the central design element, surrounded by the Golden Ratio and the divine circle. A fully functional cabinet seemingly floats in an ergonomically optimized location on a piece which is as interesting to look at as it is efficient and practical in its use - Much the same way nature finds order out of chaos.

Project included welding, woodworking and advanced lamination techniques. Rosewood, birdseye maple and Cocobolo were veneer laminates to ensure a sustainable design. Custom forms and creative veneering processes required for both scale and non-linear faces of the piece.
Pilikia Hoʻolālā
In order for the spiral to accurately represent the Fibonacci Spiral, the mathematical elements were scaled up and represented by the steel welded superstructure. The spiral itself is three distinct components: veneers bent around a form, pressed in a form, and laminated carved pieces of wood. Tangentially related, incorporation of the steel structure into the spiral as it sits within and extending through the spiral.

Research conducted on both advanced methods for lamination and the recurring mathematical phenomenons found in nature. A great deal of time was spent pondering how to create an aesthetically pleasing and fully functional interplay of these phenomenons, with the Fibonacci Spiral serving as the central design element. Some experiments were run on stability of laminates for such a large and heavy piece, as well as veneering outside curves.

The repeating order in our universe, from galaxies to microorganisms shows repeating patterns which can be demonstrated through mathematics. Italian mathematician, Leonardo of Pisa, wrote about this in 1202 in his book, Liber Abaci. The golden ratio is another recurring mathematical ratio which has captured the attention of some of the greatest minds in history. No design referencing God’s math would be replete without the divinity represented by the circle.

ʻO ka A' Design Award he makana hoʻomaikaʻi honua, i hoʻoholo ʻia e nā luna, no ka hoʻolālā maikaʻi. E komo i ka A' Design Award e loaʻa ai ka manawa e ʻike ʻia ai kou hana ma ke ʻano kūpono, a e loaʻa ai ka kaulana, ka hanohano a me ka hoʻolaha no kāu hana. E koho inoa i kāu hana no ka A' Design Award a e hoʻokūkū no ka makana A' Design Prize i makemake nui ʻia.
