About The Ray Kuī

'O ka Ray he kuī i ho'ā'o 'ia ma muli o kahi kukuna lā e puka mai ana ma waena o nā ao i kekahi lā noe. He 'ele'ele ke kala kumu o ke kuī, no ka mea, ho'ohana 'ia kēia mea i ka metala uhi rhodium 'ele'ele a me kahi kaimana 'ele'ele. Hui pū 'ia nā pōhaku makamae 'ālohilohi me ke kumu 'ele'ele i mea e ho'omālamalama ai i ka mea holo'oko'a. Unique Properties: The base color of the brooch is dark since it's using black rhodium plated metal and a black diamond, but mixing with a bright gemstones brightens up the entire piece.

Production Technology: The brooch was created in 3D model. The body for the baguette diamonds and the
Design Challenge: The most challenging part of this piece was transforming the dark image into bright object, still containing the dark element.
Research: My research began first by observing the cloudy day and capture the moment of the ray that comes out from the cloud. After I understood the shape and movement of the light, I then researched how to incorporate and design a piece that is fine, and balanced. I researched everything using online resources.
Inspiration: The inspiration of the brooch comes from the ray of sunlight appearing through the clouds on a cloudy day. The luster of the pearls gives and extra soft glow and the sparkle of the diamonds stands out like a ray of sunlight next to dark metal and black diamonds.
Project Duration: The project was designed and completed in June 2022 in Milan, Italy
