About Diagonal Primary Function: Rooj Sau Ntawv

Book Text: Diagonal yog ib lub rooj sau ntawv uas tsim los ntawm ib lub tswv yim geometric, tus kab kis mus rau ob lub kaum sib txawv. Lub npoo rooj yog muab plywood uas muaj walnut veneer, thiab tus qauv veneer ua raws li tus kab kis tib yam. Ob tug ncej yog muab hlau ua thiab muaj powder coated finish, thiab ob tug ncej txhua tug muab tso raws li tib txoj kab. Lub caj qaum tseem tseem ceeb muab zais rau hauv lub npoo rooj thiab thauj lub nqe hnyav los ntawm peb tug ncej luv mus rau ob tug ncej. Ib lub npoo bevelled thiab qhov qub nruab nrab ntawm lub npoo saum toj thiab ob tug ncej ua rau lub npoo zoo li ntab.

Unique Properties: Diagonal logic was extended to every element and compositional logic of the desk, not only reveals on the layout of walnut veneer of the tabletop, but also applies to structural skeleton that transmits force from the top to stand. Furthermore, the positions of two stands are also aligned to the diagonal guide line of the desktop.
Dimensions & Packaging: Width 850 mm X Length 1700 mm X Height 750 mm

Production Technology: Stand:Steel frame with powder coating surface,
Tabletop of plywood with walnut veneer
Design Challenge: The main structural skeleton was embedded within the tabletop and transmits the force thru three mediated columns to the stand. The skeleton was placed at the center line of the desk and holds up two cross diagonal logic. Then connects to two 90 degree table stands.
Research: The bevel detail of tabletop and the technique to distant stand and tabletop are both meant to lighten upper part of the desk and create a floating illusion.
Inspiration: The concept of table “Diagonal 45” is initiated from the geometric term which is one line segment joins two nonconsecutive vertices. The connection between each vertex not only creates a tension but also draw a frame to form an area. The idea is to use the simplest geometry to establish a steady and sleek structure of a table.
Project Duration: The project was made in Oct 2017
Operation Flow: Void and Solid interaction:
If you stand at the perfect diagonal angle from different side of table, you will be given a total different impression of the desk. One is light as modern steel frame glass building, but from the other angle, the desk will be more like solid concrete building. And of course the view and impression will become various when you walk along the table. The balance between dynamic and static, void and solid are swinging between the diagonal lines.
