Moon and Chess è una confezione regalo per mooncake creata per la Festa di Metà Autunno. Il packaging unisce i motivi del dipinto cinese "La prosperità di Suzhou" alla cultura degli scacchi. Il blu è il colore dominante, arricchito dall'arancione, da linee morbide e da motivi decorativi ricchi di dettagli. La scatola esterna si dispiega trasformandosi in un tavolino, sul quale viene appoggiata la scatola interna per servire il tè. Capovolgendo il piano del tavolino si scopre una scacchiera, dove è possibile disporre i pezzi e giocare una partita. L'impiego di materiali riciclabili e di un trattamento impermeabilizzante riduce gli sprechi. La scatola misura 30 x 20 x 5 centimetri.

Solution: In line with the Mid-Autumn Festival's theme of "reunion," we propose incorporating the traditional Chinese game of "Chess" into the overall product design. A series of integrated designs were carried out, focusing on using "packaging" as a carrier. Through deconstruction, disassembly, and reassembly, the packaging becomes another product itself. Whether it's the fun collaboration during the assembly process or the chess game under the moonlight after completion, it reflects the core philosophy of the product - "Revitalize traditional culture, people-oriented, reunion and companionship." - Research
- Moon and Chess packaging inherits and promotes traditional Chinese culture. By incorporating the traditional Prosperous Suzhou and chess culture into the packaging design, people can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the charm and value of Chinese traditional culture. Furthermore, this packaging brings a unique culinary experience, allowing people to not only savor delicious food but also experience the unique charm of traditional culture.
- Inspiration
- The design inspiration for Moon and Chess comes from the famous Chinese painting Prosperous Suzhou and chess culture. By combining these two elements, the designer aims to integrate traditional cultural elements with modern aesthetics, creating a unique visual effect. Meanwhile, Prosperous Suzhou depicts the flourishing period of Suzhou in ancient times. It not only showcases the bustling markets of Suzhou but also vividly presents rich contents representing Suzhou culture, such as imperial examinations, traditional Chinese opera and music, wedding customs, and garden art, etc.

- The highlight of Moon and Chess lies in its combination of table and chessboard functionalities. By disassembling and combining from different dimensions, the overall interactivity and fun of the gift box are enhanced. When people open the packaging, they can place the inner box on top of the unfolded outer box, creating a table for enjoying tea. When flipping the tabletop, users can arrange the chess pieces on it and begin an exciting game of chess playing. This design not only increases the practicality of the packaging but also provides people with more interactive and entertaining ways to enjoy the product.
