20 June 2023 · Wall O Il Sedile A Muro
I wanted to create a relaxation area, a wall cocoon for small moments of detachment.
I have always sought sobriety in this object. An aggressive, angular or loaded design, does not allow you to relax.
I want to make it evolve, so that it can respond to different atmospheres. But its basic concept must be preserved.
From the first idea, to the realization of the first marketable model, it took about two years.
I simply followed an inspiration. I find these to be the most difficult objects to create, because there are no constraints, so no guide lines.
The product is currently manufactured by a partner, and marketed by my own company. However, a partnership on production rights is not excluded.
I am a very stubborn person. Once an idea gets into my mind, you have to work hard to get it out of it. And as this idea still seemed original to me, I really wanted to continue.
The whole stage of the project was done very autonomously. I find it difficult to integrate people into the creative stages, because the divergent opinions, the tastes are not the same and you have to keep the very essence of your own creation. But afterwards, I gladly receive advice, such as on this design, for technical design or material proposals.
Perhaps as the main target, public spaces, which need to offer small parenthesis to passers-by. But also banking institutions, museums and others, in which we seek above all calm and privacy
The curiosity it arouses, as if suspended in time
Simply by the alliance of its location and design
The basics, drawing and models
After the creation phase, Ja'i calls on a company specializing in custom furniture for technical design. They are now the ones who manufacture it.
There is not much technology in this design. The technologies can be used during its manufacture, but in a relatively basic way. Simple object, simple use.
Its location, free on a wall or on a blank surface, required research to ensure its safety. Its envelope being made of flexible material, it was not necessary to rely on it for the structure
Thanks to one of my former teachers, who always told me, if you create, be proud and show what you are capable of, do not keep it to yourself.
I learned so much. In so many areas: perseverance, patience, doubt, eliminating doubt. Each creation is formative, each project, each meeting...
Design Legend Interview
20 June 2023
I arrived in the world of design very late, after training as a mason and many years working on construction sites. I always wanted to create new things, this path was certainly pre-destined.
I like to create, I like to stand out, I like to surprise others. Design is the possibility of being able to respond to requests, while creating astonishment.
I chose it, clearly, for the love of creation
J'aime le mobilier. Mais j'espère pouvoir offrir mes services dans les domaines les plus vastes possibles.
I don't pretend to be a legend. But you just have to believe in yourself, dare to show yourself, without fear of the eyes of others. If you don't do it for others, at least do it for yourself.
If I were lucky enough to have only one, it would be easy to answer that question.
pour résumer de la plus simple des manières, la passion
my best design is my Wall-O chair. I think he is distinguished by his sobriety, and arouses curiosity.
I've always been attracted to rescue jobs, ambulance?
Designer Interview
6 November 2022
During my first professional experiences, the search for solutions and the study of details always attracted me. After several years dedicated to construction, and serving others, I decided to give myself the chance to realize my own projects.
My company stands out for listening and the diversity of professional knowledge acquired during my career. The team is small, which allows direct and reassuring communication for the customer.
For me, design must combine aesthetics and functionality. One cannot go without the other for a successful project.
Interior design is a big part of my preferences, but I'm always drawn to projects that are out of the ordinary, regardless of the field, which gives more interest to research.
During car rides, I manage to free my mind.
Its sense of existence, its usefulness. If it does not make sense, but only aesthetics, it is missed
Many emotions are felt, excitement, satisfaction, but also frustration at times
It is a pride to have been able to lead a project to its completion. If it manages to exist, it is already a first victory.
If it provides curiosity and satisfaction
He must attract attention and arouse curiosity, which proves that he stands out from the rest. Then, always the balance between its functionality and its aesthetics.
