About The Lakeshore Hualien Tranquil 호텔
레이크쇼어 화롄 트랭퀼(The Lakeshore Hualien Tranquil)은 대만 화롄시에 위치한 호텔이다. 디자인은 지역의 산세와 태평양, 그리고 마바이수이(Ma Paisui)의 회화 작품 '타이루거의 아름다움(The Beauty of Taroko)'에서 영감을 얻었다. 산등성이의 형상은 1층 보와 기둥의 오각형 기하학으로 변환되었고, 복도와 천장에는 삼각형 모티프가 나타난다. 파사드의 굽이치는 선은 바다의 물결을 연상시킨다. 목재 그릴과 투광성 유리는 자연광과 외부 경관을 실내로 끌어들인다. 상층부는 뒤로 물려 배치하여 테라스를 조성하고 통풍을 개선했으며, 인접 건물에 드리우는 그림자를 최소화했다.

- Unique Properties
- Master Ma Paisui painting The Beauty of Taroko inspires the design team on designing the exterior part of the building with the strange and magnificent mountains and rocks and the undulating sea of greenery in the lower part of the building, which is transformed into 3D pentagonal geometry and the triangles on the corridor and the ceiling. Furthermore, the undulating sea waves on the exterior walls of the building, bring the natural appearance of Hualien to the visitors provides a comfortable and convenient resting place.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- The design team has set up different levels of building volume and retreating staggered configuration so that each room in every position is airy and well ventilated. The upper floor is partially retracted to create a hierarchical volume and give an interesting shape of the skyline, create a sky terrace and maximize daylighting. At the same time, it solves the problem of blocking the neighboring buildings so that the purpose of urban planning for sharing the beauty of the environment is achieved.

- Production Technology
- The exterior of the first floor is designed with the concept of the undulating ridge of the mountains. The beams and columns are shaped to form a pentagonal geometry, and a wooden grille is used on the upper part to bring a transparency and penetration feeling. Besides the triangular shape, the building facade is also designed with the natural impression of the sea's waves, and the light-weight transparent glass brings in the outdoor scenery, enabling the building to penetrate and introduce the outdoor natural environment.
- Design Challenge
- According to the statistics, more than 90% of people die during earthquakes because of building collapse. By this tragedy, once again awakening people's awareness of earthquake crisis prevention. Thus, in order to meet the goals of seismic design regulations and to protect the safety of the tourists, the geological characteristics and seismic zone coefficients of the site were taken into the consideration since the beginning of the construction planning of the Lakeshore Hotel Hualien.
- Research
- The hotel not only symbolizes the local cultural spirit but also provides a comfortable place for visitors from far away to relax. The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien incorporates the unique natural scenery of Hualien, such as clouds, mountains, forest, and sea, into the exterior of the building. Adopts master Ma Paisui's painting The Beauty of Taroko to transform mountains, forest waves, and waves into pentagonal and triangular geometries, which are presented on the corridor and ceiling of the first floor, and the exterior of the building also uses undulating lines to outline the image of waves.
- Inspiration
- The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien is located on the vast coastline of the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the luxuriant mountains that stretch for miles. Inspired by the mountains and the sea, the architect takes the edges and corners of the mountains and the waves of the sea as images and combines them with the painting The Beauty of Taroko by master Ma Paisui to visualize the majestic atmosphere of Taroko, which is surrounded by fog and mist.

- The project was completed in March 2021 in Hualien City, Taiwan.
- Operation Flow
- The Lakeshore Hotel Hualien not only architecturally embraces the magnificent natural scenery of clouds, mountains, forests, and the sea of Eastern Taiwan, but is also located on the side of the Taiwan Provincial Highway 9 which provides direct access to the international airport, train stations, international seaports and other important scenic spots in Hualien. The hotel also looks out over the clear blue ocean to the east and the verdant mountains to the west, providing a comfortable travel experience for visitors with an open.
