About Toke Refika Pirtûkan a Xemilandinê
Toke refikeke pirtûkan a xemilandinê ye ku ji bo ser maseyê û ji bo cihên hundirîn hatiye sêwirandin. Gogeke ji dara tîliyê ya cîlakirî bi tîreya 16 santîmetreyan li navenda sêwiranê cih digire û hem wek piştgirî hem jî wek xala hevsengiyê kar dike. Gog bi kişandina erdê re dilive û pirtûkan bi rêk û pêk dihêle. Çarçove ji şivika metal a bi taybetî çemandî û pelika metal a jêkirî hatiye çêkirin, bi kelandinê hatine girêdan û bi boyaxa tozê ya elektrostatîk hatiye qedandin. Bilindahiya Toke 18 santîmetre, firehiya wê 49 santîmetre û kûrahiya wê 16.5 santîmetre ye. Şêweya wê ya sade ji bo odeyên rûniştinê, odeyên razanê, xwaringeh, kafe û dikanan guncav e.

*Electrostatic powder paint
*Polished limewood globe with a diameter of 16 cm
*0.4 mm cnc cut metal plate - Design Challenge
- Selecting and processing the appropriate natural material, polishing it to the correct color after processing. Selecting the correct metal sheet and rod, and joining them together after bending and cutting methods.
- Research
- When designing Toke, it was crucial to select the right material for the sphere at its center. We debated extensively between beech, hornbeam, or walnut. Because exotic woods are generally expensive, we settled on linden, which was readily available locally. Its soft texture made it easy to work with and polish.
For the metal, we strived to select dimensions and thicknesses that could be easily machined on cnc and bending machines. We then engaged local craftsmanship and assembled the parts using welding.
We tried to evaluate different color options for the metal part. We chose both electrostatic paint and gold and silver plating as alternative methods. - Inspiration
- Toke's story is built on the theme of "Balance point and the flow of knowledge." Toke acts as a bridge, holding, displaying, and elegantly balancing precious information (books). The wooden sphere, the central element of the design, forms the weight and focal point of the entire system, creating an illusion of gravity by balancing the books' position. This reflects the idea that knowledge is a central force that keeps our minds and lives in balance.
- Project Duration
- The project began in istanbul, Türkiye, in January 2025. The first prototype was released in May 2025. Mass production began in July 2025.
- Operation Flow
- The sphere in Toke moves thanks to gravity and balances the books on it, ensuring they stay in order.
