About Luminous Serenity Dîzayna Navxweyî ya Niştecihbûnê
Luminous Serenity dîzayneke navxweyî ya niştecihbûnê ye li Kaohsiung, Taywanê. Ev apartman wek penageheke aram ji bo xwendekareke ciwan a bijîşkiyê hat afirandin. Dîzayn li gorî felsefeya wabi-sabî ye û materyalên xwezayî yên wek kevir, dar û gêç bi kar tîne. Ronahiya rojê di nav pencereyên darî yên hêlekan (louver) re dikeve hundir, ji ber vê yekê ronahî û sî di seranserê rojê de diguherin. Gêçên dostê jîngehê, darên avêtî yên deryayê, kaxeza qalikê darê û erdê bêdrz li ser bingeha heyî hatin sepandin da ku bermayî kêm bibe. Hilweşandina herî kêm nexşeya resen diparêze, di heman demê de girava metbexa vekirî deverên rûniştin û xwarinê bi hev ve girê dide.

Credits, team members and technical details provided by the designer.
- Unique Properties
- The design unfolds around three themes, Light and Shadow, Calm, and Return. Daylight flows through timber louvers like a living rhythm, while tactile materials such as stone, wood, and plaster form a grounded palette. The space becomes a vessel of healing, where light, texture, and emotion converge into a restorative narrative.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- Minimal demolition preserves the original layout while improving flow. An open kitchen island connects living and dining areas; the study integrates double-sided bookshelves for a medical library. Diverse lighting, pendants, track, and strips, allows flexible scenarios, enhancing comfort and resonance with daily life.

This mix of natural and sustainable finishes balances rawness with refinement, showcasing craftsmanship while supporting durability and environmental responsibility.
- Design Challenge
- The challenge lay in creating a sanctuary within a standard apartment while minimizing demolition. By layering textures, integrating sustainable materials, and orchestrating light as a dynamic element, the design transcends visual style, becoming a restorative environment that endures both emotionally and environmentally.
- Research
- The project investigates how wabi sabi aesthetics can be adapted to contemporary urban living. Through material reuse, low carbon processes, and nuanced light control, it explores a holistic balance between sustainability and emotional wellbeing, proposing a design model where aesthetics, ecology, and human needs align.
- Inspiration
- Inspired by the philosophy of wabi sabi, the residence transforms urban living into a meditative retreat. Stripping away excess and embracing natural elements, it was created as a sanctuary for the client’s daughter embarking on her medical studies, offering a place of calm, reflection, and emotional grounding.
- Project Duration
- The project, located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, was completed in November 2024 after an 8 month duration.
- Operation Flow
