- The Sesion speaker is constructed through a sophisticated multi material integration process. The main chassis features metallic finish plastic injection molding complemented by anodized aluminum stamping for the protective grilles and structural plates. This ensures a premium tactile feel and optimal heat dissipation. The rugged exterior utilizes PA injection molding for the reinforced corners to provide high tensile strength. Ergonomic handles combine stainless steel sheet metal with rough finish over molding for enhanced grip and durability.
- Wero Hoahoa
- The primary challenge was reconciling the internal volume required for powerful high fidelity audio with a compact and portable exterior. Integrating a high excursion 6.5 inch subwoofer and multiple radiators into a limited footprint required precise spatial management. Furthermore, designing a shell that protects expensive and sensitive acoustic components from sand, grit, and impact without dampening sound quality was a significant hurdle. This was solved through a hybrid structure of anodized aluminum and reinforced nylon, ensuring the device is both a high performance instrument and a durable outdoor companion.
- Rangahau
- The research focused on defining luxury within the context of rugged outdoor environments. By analyzing high end camping and social trends, we identified a gap between fragile indoor high fidelity systems and overly utilitarian outdoor gear. The study revealed that true luxury in this segment is defined by a balance of enduring presence, intuitive portability, and material honesty.
- Whakaaweawe
- Sesion draws inspiration from the enduring presence of desert landscapes where solid geological formations exude a sense of permanence and quiet elegance. The design aim was to translate these grounded monolithic shapes into a portable luxury object. By echoing the rugged yet refined textures of nature, Sesion moves beyond a mere electronic device. It becomes a sculptural piece that balances bold structural durability with a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic designed for the modern explorer.
- Roanga o te Kaupapa
- The project was developed over a period of six months in the Pasadena, California. It involved extensive form exploration and acoustic testing to ensure durability and sound performance in open environments.
- Rerenga Mahi
- The control interface is located on the rear right side of the device for a clean aesthetic. It features three dedicated rotary knobs for tactile precision. The largest knob controls the master volume while the other two allow users to fine tune treble and bass levels independently. The charging port is positioned on the rear left side for easy access. Users can effortlessly carry and reposition the speaker using any of the five ergonomic handles which provide multi angle grip points for various outdoor scenarios.
