About Pool Qoxra tal-Ktieb

Pool hija qoxra ta' ktieb interattiva maħluqa għal pubblikazzjoni xjentifika. Id-disinn jinterpreta mill-ġdid il-forma tal-alka permezz ta' karattri Ċiniżi, u ħafna forom ta' alka huma mqiegħda mal-qoxra kollha sabiex il-qarrejja jikkonnettjaw mas-suġġett immedjatament. Id-doodles ta' tipi differenti ta' alka huma miksija b'verniċ lokalizzat (spot varnish), li joħloq riflessjoni ta' ilma u tessitura realistika. Id-doodles jestendu mal-qoxra kollha biex jiffurmaw l-immaġni ta' għadira mimlija bl-alki. Tonalitajiet ta' isfar neon u aħdar juru l-varjetà tal-alki. Kwiżż żgħir ta' taqbil fuq il-qoxra ta' ġewwa jħalli lill-qarrejja jitgħallmu l-ismijiet tal-alki.

Unique Properties: Designer redesigns the look of algae with the Chinese character, and combined with numbers of algae on the cover, leading readers to associate with the topic immediately. Doodles of various types of algae are coated with translucent varnish which creates senses of watery reflection. They extend through the whole cover to create an image of pond that full of algae. A small matching quiz is designed on the inner cover for readers to get to know the names of algae.

Production Technology: For the main visual design, it is coated with spot varnish to emphasize the vivid effect and the realistic texture while it is brightly colored with neon yellow and greenish tones.
Design Challenge: The process of finding an attractive and an eye-catching way to design a science book cover requires several attampts and brain-storming.
Inspiration: It starts from a small pond which is filled with algae floating on the top of the surface, and can be found everywhere. The colorful design is meant to show the diversities and interesting sides of algae. Readers can also associate with the algae they have seen by touching the varnished algae doodles.
Project Duration: The designing project started and finished in December 2019 in Tainan, Taiwan, and was published in Taiwan on 5th of Decenber, 2019.
Operation Flow: Besides from the vivid color it used. A samll interactive quiz is designed on the inner cover of the book. Readers can choose the corresponded names to match the correct algae.
