Jyun Shen Zeng · CLIENT: Kensing Interior Design
Holy Sky is a residential interior design created for a Christian family in Taiwan. The 130 square meter home uses floor boundary lines to define the television wall and the living area, extending to the wall to form a cross-like image. Ceiling lighting suggests rays of light descending from above, converging in a circular corridor that connects three doors. An open plan layout links the areas and expands the use of space. Similar materials and colors are applied to the surfaces to create a harmonious whole. Durable green paint and adaptable cabinetry reduce future waste.

- Production Technology
- In the future, environmental protection on Earth will be a necessary consideration. Therefore, green materials were chosen for the paint.
Durability was also taken into account to reduce the need for repeated applications and minimize waste.
For the cabinetry, flexible designs were used, allowing for adaptability in future updates or space innovations.
This ensures that the cabinets can be continuously reused, reducing environmental waste and enhancing the potential for green materials and recycling. - Design Challenge
- In use, we need to consider different age groups, as their reach and habits vary. Therefore, we designed everything with ease of access and convenience in mind.
Whether it's the simple and intuitive color schemes or the natural flow of movement within the space, everything is aimed at improving the usability and functionality of the environment for users. - Project Duration
- Start in Taiwan in January 2024 and complete in Taiwan in September 2024
- Operation Flow
- We used similar materials and colors for the various surface finishing needs. Whether it's the special paint for the TV wall, the cabinet doors in the entryway, or the flooring materials, everything is matched under the same theme.
This approach creates maximum harmony in the overall space, allowing each area to feel coordinated within the entire environment.
This, in turn, draws the user's attention and enhances their satisfaction with the space. - Research
- In our spatial design, we considered how to use the most efficient method to maximize the space's benefits without wasting any small areas, while also ensuring the overall aesthetics create a pleasant experience for users.
We used an open-plan layout to establish spatial connections and expanded space usage by overlapping areas. As a result, we created a comfortable living environment and enhanced interaction for multiple users within the same space. - Inspiration
- We drew inspiration for the design from Christianity. Since the users are a devout Christian family, we envisioned rays of light descending from heaven and the imagery of the cross, as well as using simple materials to shape the overall design in terms of form, color, and texture.
We also incorporated layers of light and shadow from the heavenly light, creating a sacred, simple, and natural spatial environment. - Image Credits
