Muhe is a residential interior design created for co-living in an older apartment. A former bedroom is opened to connect the kitchen island, dining area, and reading wall, forming a shared axis that supports interaction among the residents and their pet. Sliding partitions let the home shift between privacy and connection, and a sliding television wall adjusts sightlines across the zones. A three-zone bathroom, concealed storage, and clear circulation support daily use. Brushed white oak, soft white tones, and layered lighting create a calm atmosphere.

- Production Technology
- The spatial design emphasizes rhythm and coherence, integrating the kitchen island, dining table, and reading wall into a continuous shared axis. A sliding TV wall enables flexible sightlines and enhances interaction across zones. Slatted elements extend from the entryway through cabinetry and walls, articulating a light yet orderly visual rhythm. A palette of white oak, soft white, and low-saturation textured finishes—paired with charcoal drapery and layered lighting—creates a serene, refined atmosphere with understated depth and material richness.
- Design Challenge
- As diverse living arrangements among partners, friends, and pets become increasingly common, residential design often remains rooted in the logic of the nuclear family. In response to this gap, the design shifts from functional zoning toward a spatial strategy of openness, sliding visual cores, and integrated interfaces—redefining the rhythms and boundaries of co-living. The home is no longer a static container, but a social unit that supports coexistence, emotional flow, and the recognition of varied ways of living together.

Posted on 2025/04/10 - Operation Flow
- The layout is tailored for the fluid needs of multi-person co-living. An open circulation connects cooking, dining, reading, and rest into a seamless daily flow. The sliding TV wall pivots to serve different zones, adapting to varied living scenarios. A three-zone bathroom enables concurrent use, boosting efficiency, while high-frequency storage is aligned along main pathways for quick, intuitive access. A slatted sliding panel conceals utility cabinets while ensuring ventilation and filtered light—supporting smooth transitions between openness and privacy with spatial clarity.
- Research
- Responding to a co-living lifestyle shared by a couple, friends, and a pet, the design departs from room-count-based layouts to prioritize openness and adaptability. One bedroom is released to create a shared spatial axis. The living area omits a traditional sofa, preserving flexibility, while a sliding TV wall enables multi-zone viewing. A three-zone bathroom supports staggered use to improve efficiency. Slatted elements unify storage, concealment, and visual rhythm. Muted tones and intentional blank space provide a calming, stable environment for high-pressure urban living.
- Inspiration
- Breaking from room-based conventions, this design starts with how people live—redefining space around interaction, openness, and adaptability. Shaped for a multi-person, co-living lifestyle, the home becomes a flexible framework for evolving relationships. Circulation and boundaries are carefully designed to balance connection and independence. As daily rhythms shift, the space adapts—offering a quiet, future-ready model for shared living.
