Florian W. Mueller · CLIENT: Porsche China
Multivision Porsche Shanghai is a photography artwork series created for Porsche China. Each image combines three photographs in a single frame through multiple exposure. The series shows the different faces of Shanghai, from traditional Chinese districts and the architecture of the Former French Concession to modern glass and steel buildings. A sports car appears in every picture and stays recognisable despite the layered surroundings. The images were made with digital photography and are produced as fine-art prints mounted on aluminium composite panels in limited editions.

- Unique Properties
- Porsche China asked me if I’d like to shoot in Shanghai and create some artwork for the PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai, including their iconic sportscars.
I created pictures in the style of my “Multivision” series to show the various vibrant faces of this great city.
It's multiple exposure photography, always three photographies in one picture. - Dimensions & Packaging

- Production Technology
- Digital photography, the artworks are finished as Fine-Art prints, mounted on Alu-Dibond.
- Design Challenge
- The challenge was the weather and to find locations, where a multiple exposure of Shanghai gives a good view to the different faces of the city.
- Project Duration
- Location-Scouting and Shooting: 10 days, 10 more days for postproduction
- Operation Flow
- 1. Digital location scouting via internet, Google Earth, etc.
2. Physical location scouting in Shanghai
3. Shooting in the streets of Shanghai
4. Post Production - Research
- The project started with a call from Porsche China. I created a concept and did the creative direction. All in all, I didn't have much time, there were about 3 months between the creation of the concept and the exhibition for Porsche's 70th birthday at Photofairs Shanghai.
- Inspiration
- Shanghai has many different faces. You can find the old, traditional China, the influences of France in the "Former French Concession" and of course very modern glass and steel architecture.
I wanted to capture these different faces of the city in multiple exposures, always with a Porsche in the picture. Because no matter how distorted the environment appears through the multiple exposure, you can always recognize the iconic design of the Porsche. - Image Credits
