Interview with riten GOJIYA

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
I am a 21 year old student, I belong to a totally different culture. I have the colors of India music, festivals and celebration in my blood, my father is an avid bike lover and he always gives some special personal touches to his bike. So from childhood, i am close to motorbikes, especially Royal Enfield. My sources of knowledge are my first-hand experiences and the discovery and science channels. From the age of 5, my love towards the beauty of the automobile, Has propelled me to the design field which, I believe, is the only career that I will be able to enjoy and have pleasure in even when I reach 50 years of age.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
DSK ISD takes pride about its presence as the first of its kind - the one and only - International School of Design in India! The concept of the school is unique, based on a mix of students coming from very different cultures, and teaching them how to work in a unified manner within an international context. Design being a subject of creative power, stimulates many European students to discover life abroad, which in turn opens avenues to enhanced skill-sets. The versatile Indian culture aptly attracts these students for a new experience. As for the Indian counterparts, joining DSK ISD is a great opportunity to live an international experience while discovering new cultures and honing a new style of work without having to move abroad.
What is "design" for you?
I believe that Design is an Intricate blend of Art, Science and Culture.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
I like designing light mobility with new user experience. Occasionally I love going crazy with my imaginations and create some fun projects.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
Tata nano is one of my favorite design. In simple words " More From Less For More ". The Tata Nano is a city car manufactured by Tata Motors. Made and sold in India, the Nano is the cheapest car in the world today. Before it went on sale, a price of INR1 lakh (US$1,800) was widely touted. Since its 2009 debut, the price has increased. Nevertheless, the Nano remains the lowest-cost four-wheeled passenger vehicle in India.
What is your favorite material / platform / technology?
I like aero space materials and natural materials such as wood. Camera is a magical technological revolution for me.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
I think about the Relevance and the impact it may have on the environment.
What makes a design successful?
Combination of intelligent solutions and adorable surfaces can make a design very successful.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
We have a bigger responsibility towards society and environment because our designs can create a bright future or can destroy.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
The future has a very divers opportunity for design because I often see young people are joining this field because they get obsessed by some brand or some other factor but not because they can contribute something good to help someone smile.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
I believe that Design is an Intricate blend of Art, Science and Culture which is why everyone has different set of values and aspirations.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I live in India and I believe sometimes it has got a great impact on my designs and thought process but sometimes I jump out of the box and see what can i do without being influenced by my surroundings.
How do you work with companies?
It is very tempting and challenging experience where you are working under emotional and professional pressure.
