Extended Interview with Aidin Ardjomandi

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
Of course, I have studied in the industrial design field in the art and architecture faculty ofcentral Tehran branch of IA University in Master degree. Many people believe that an artist does not need academic studies to be an artist but I do not believe in this idea. I hardly believe that the academic studies has changed my vision and it helped mye to find my way in designing.
How did you become a designer?
I always wanted to myself and I searched a lot to find a way to prove it. After a while I couldn't find any better way for this issue and it was Design. I seriously believe that nothing can define me better than it.
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
No one forced me and unfortunately I have fight for it.it was not only a choice. It was a deep love.
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
I I said before, I really want to expose what I am and I have no choice for this idea but Design as I really am. I want to Design everything from a funny toy to a hard knife with the deepest feeling of my inside.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
When I was younger, I always wanted to be like someone else. I always wanted to be a good copy of a legend but it was something that stopped me. My improvement has started directly after I forget this idea and I started to Design as I am.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
I do not believe in the word "good designer". I categorize designers in three groups, unacceptable designers, good copies and great designers. To be a great designer you just have not to be those two other groups.
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
I always evaluate Designs from their origins and a design origin is obviously it's designer. I always try to understand that have this design came from the inside of it's designer or not.
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
I have read in the book "designing a breakthrough product" that a good product must have three parameters. It has to be useful, usable and desirable. I think a design is a product and it has to have these three parameters too.
What is your day to day look like?
I really love to work in a musical instruments companies but now I am working hard to research in design competitions and to find ways to make these events more practical and more attractive.
How do you keep up with latest design trends? To what extent do design trends matter?
I have no chance to be part of a prestigious animation team and o think I will never have enough time for this dream.
Who is your favourite designer?
I have designed a lot of items and products but I seriously believe that my best one is designing a character named Fariborz.
Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
It's a hard question. I have fight to my destiny to become a designer so I really do not want to think about the answer of this question.
What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
The most attractive answer for this question is I have reached these highs completely alone like an eagle but the truth is my father was my biggest supporter and I always call him for my achievements and it's really hard for me to have a success without of his kind words.
