About Sunita Gill

Being a mother gives you such responsibility for the future as well as for the present. It is imperative to me to instil compassion in my children. We are proud to be a socially responsible business, supporting WaterAid via 'Work for Good'. A contribution to WaterAid will be made from the sale of every sink tidy. I thoroughly enjoy being a community Pharmacist and in particular helping the elderly. Being a Gamesmaker at the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics was an honour and an experience I am so proud to have been given. As part of the medical team, I was caring for athletes and their teams. I was thrilled to be a blogger for the 'Pharmaceutical Journal' and share my journey as a Gamesmaker. As a guest speaker training post graduate students, it allows me to inspire students looking for a career in Community Pharmacy. My moto would is to 'be relentless in your drive and determination'. There are many facets to me and I am enjoying the adventure of discovering new ones.

Extended Interview with Sunita Gill

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
In fact my background is in the medical profession but I have always enjoyed creating minimalist style as a hobby.
How did you become a designer?
When designing my own kitchen, I could not find a minimalist storage solution for the sink area. So this led me to design the PAVARA sink tidy.
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
If you have an idea and you feel passionate about it, then you should use this passion to drive your creation.
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
I think a great designer would be looking for something novel and taking the consumer to an area that most designers would be fearful to go.
You are truly successful as a designer, what do you suggest to fellow designers, artists and architects?
Good design is a personal interpretation and so the beauty of it, is truly in the eye of the beholder.
How do you know if a product or project is well designed? How do you define good design?
Try and give the audience something that excites them but is also thought provoking.
What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
As this project was self funded initially, I was lucky to have the support from my family. After taking out an additional loan to manufacture my product, I was fortunate enough to work with a mentor from Virgin startup. She has encouraged me to reach my full potential.
