Interview with EITA SAITO

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
It all started when I started helping out with the family business. I had no intention of becoming a designer.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
We are a silk fabric manufacturing company, and we only design textiles.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
Although progress is being made day by day, there is also a large element of learning from the past for new discoveries.
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
It was held in Milan, Italy, and the next one is scheduled to be held in Paris.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I live in Japan and I think I'm influenced by Japan. The good thing is that I'm very polite. The bad thing is that I take a lot of time.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
First, we will begin by asking in detail about the fabric design desired by the client.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
The good thing is that it enriches people's lives. The bad thing is that it makes you feel superior.
