Interview with Misako Niwa

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Because I thought one would like to give delight to a person at designed space from the impression when having made a secondhand apartment over, buying it and having got space on the concerned street.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
You can use combination of the texture which feels warmth and the interesting color for the material in present-day various scenes using the Kurume cotton cloth with a splashed pattern which are traditional arts and crafts while enjoying oneself.
What makes a design successful?
The feeling that I'd like always to offer something appreciated to person's purpose
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
Convenient good or bad and beauty which harmonizes with daily life
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
I don't dispose of a thing and tell importance of keeping using it for a long time.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
The daily life is made abundant in future with the design, and prompts a person to be conscious and behave.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
Enjoyment of a European movie and the interior color used in the movie
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Choice and combination with the color of the fabric which was added to the shape and the use refined simply
What type of design work do you enjoy the most and why?
I design according to the present-day living style using Japanese traditional arts and crafts.
What are your future plans? What is next for you?
The community bass rooted in an area, the supervision which is the interior using traditional arts and crafts
