Interview with Daniel Plutín Amigó

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
I have always been related to art and creativity. Since I was a kid I liked to draw and I participated in the competitions that took place in the school, in this way I was developing my skills until I entered to the only design university in my country. That's when I really began to see life in a different way, I discovered the power of design and its ability to change people's lives. I feel that design gives me energy, allows me to interact with society and help others to live better.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
I currently work as a freelance designer, although I collaborate with other designers, artists, musicians and creatives in general to achieve different points of view and better solutions.
What is "design" for you?
Design is my religion ... It is omnipresent in the whole universe because "Everything is designed"
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
I like to communicate through images and synthesize complex messages in simple ideas. I think I'm good at corporate identity
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
My favorite design is nature. It is the most complex and comprehensive system I know.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
My first assignment was the realization of a corporate identity for an ophthalmology event.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
I prefer to think more and do less. I focus on the function and relevance of the concept.
What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
Each stage of the creative process generates a different emotion. It's like going through a labyrinth with many scenes. I try to enjoy all the way. I am happy from the beginning
What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
Every project I design is like a son to me. Seeing it done, printed and implemented is always a dream come true.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
Designers have the power and responsibility to design in correspondence with the preservation of the environment and society. This requires to be updated in technological, scientific, cultural matters, etc ... to opt for more sustainable and sustainable solutions.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
The future of design will be the answer to the needs of the present. With the development of technology, design is increasingly part of people's lives, modifying and allowing different scenarios and opportunities.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
I nourish myself from every situation I live. I am very interested in understanding human behavior and the processes of nature. The answers appear when you understand the relationship and the connection between everything that surrounds us.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
I justify each of the parts that make up a solution. "More with less" is one of my most powerful principles to achieve simplicity.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I have had the fortune to live in cities such as Santiago de Cuba, Havana and currently in Rome. The mixture of environmental, social and cultural experiences give me images in which I am inspired daily. Italy is a country of tradition and international results in terms of design, in its streets you often hear the word "beautiful" you breathe the love for good taste and that encourages me to continue perfecting my work.
