Interview with Hee soo Son

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
In fact, when I was young, my dream was to be an inventor. But as I grew older, I realized that what I wanted was more in touch with the design, and I became more interested in visual design, so I think I've come so far.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
I am still a student so I do not belong to any company or studio.
What is "design" for you?
an element that can be added to everything and made more beautiful and meaningful.
What kinds of works do you like designing most?
Recently, I feel most interesting and my favorite design is brand design.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
My favorite design is nothing else. Generally, I like a 'reasonable' design that fits the situation and meaning and fits the target.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
I remember making the logo of the logistics company called 'Fresh Solutions' was the first attempt to design for the company.
When do you feel the most creative?
Creative moments can be divided into the first moment when you suddenly see something and the second time when all the research is done and you find a logical moment where you find a valid design.
Which aspects of a design do you focus more during designing?
It seems important not only is aesthetic, but also whether the process to which this design comes out is reasonable.
What kind of emotions do you feel when your designs are realized?
I haven't had much experience yet, so I think I've been puzzled.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
Whether the design matches the background and the output of the design
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
To make it easy for people to read even if it is a manual It reminds me of the saying 'consideration and Empathy'
When was your last exhibition and where was it? And when do you want to hold your next exhibition?
Because I am still a student, the project exhibition that I did at school was the last exhibition. The next exhibition is not yet ready.
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I live in South Korea. I think I have come to learn the beauty of moderation and try to reflect it in design from the simple yet diverse lifestyle and architectural style of South Korea.
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
I think it would be better to pick someone who understands what the company is asking for and what direction the company is pursuing.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
Based on an overall survey of the goals to be designed, I choose factors to design and solve them in a story.
Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
Instead of pursuing aesthetic, think about the goal of design and try to solve the inconvenience or design it so that it can lead in a better
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
The good thing is that design can change the world to be beautiful or useful, and the bad thing is that you have to be sensitive and think a lot more because you have to be able to capture things that other people overlook.
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
It is not a desirable method, but I spend the next day taking a good rest after staying up all night when I concentrate on my work.
What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
I think I hear a lot of questions about what is the most beautiful design and what is the most wrong design.
What was your most important job experience?
Recently, I think it was the most important that I worked as an intern in the design department of a company for six months.
What are your future plans? What is next for you?
Now that I am still a student, I want to study both foreign languages and design in order to increase my chances for the future.
Do you work as a team, or do you develop your designs yourself?
I both does. because It has the advantage of working as a team and only possible when working as a person.
