Interview with QIDI DESIGN GROUP

Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
I graduated from Hefei University of Technology School of Architecture and Art. Before becoming a designer, I ‘m fascinating in art and drawing in light and shadow,to interpreting the cognitive environment . At the current, designer's work has been full of challenges and expectation ,we are capable to deal with challenges.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
We are a team of ten young people, who like design, love life and have a distinct personality.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
I prefer the project considering the local culture heritage in architectural landscape and interior design, such as Aman resort. My favorite Landscape master is Yufan Zhu.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
The project conveys ideas and emotions, whether the scale of space is comfortable, and whether the transition is natural
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
The field of design will evolve the philosophy in design,and people’s mind.To achieve harmony between man and nature
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Modern and natural style, environment and local Chinese history based on the traditional garden characteristics
Where do you live? Do you feel the cultural heritage of your country affects your designs? What are the pros and cons during designing as a result of living in your country?
I was born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, a city with a long history and culture, with many intangible cultural heritages and monuments, and a deeper understanding and pride in traditional Chinese culture.Now I live in Shanghai.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
First of all, the interpretation of the basic information of the project and site survey, combined with the task book to collect information and brainstorm, initially determine the project positioning, design ideas and conceptual direction, and Party A communication and carry out specific design.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
On the positive aspect, I feel a strong sense of accomplishment and responsibility.On the negative aspect, I feel that is quite struggle coordinate your work and life as well as your family .
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
In fact, in the course of our team work, often will spend a lot of time in the early concept stage, try to improve the daytime work efficiency.
What is the most frequently asked question to you, as a designer?
Why I want to express and finalize message in the design process .

Could you please tell us about your experience as a designer, artist, architect or creator?
I graduated from Hefei University of Technology School of Architecture and Art with a bachelor's degree in art and design
How did you become a designer?
Previous experience of drawing, passion about change of color and light and shadow poetry
What are your priorities, technique and style when designing?
In the course of university study to understand the designer as mu future career, get involved in some wonderful project cases, I realised I want to become a designer
Which emotions do you feel when designing?
At present, more about design of living environment, I will focus on more how landscape which chang human's life in the future
What particular aspects of your background shaped you as a designer?
I personally try to explore and observe latest trend of architecure landscape in related to people's daily life
What is your growth path? What are your future plans? What is your dream design project?
As a good designer,is to solve problems and show good results, in the meanwhile a great designer can lead some cultural reflection and innovation exploration on this basis
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
Continue to create value and influence after the completion of the project
How do you decide if your design is ready?
Many architects and interior design masters,their works are my role model and inspiration Tadao Ando’s light of church inspired me focus on light in the landscape . Kengo Kuma, his design based on the idea of keep the original of the environment,create and integrated to the nature. Yufan Zhu, his landscape design not only reflecting the Chinese tradition and contemporary.
Would you tell us more about your work culture and business philosophy?
Traveller. travel around the world to visit and feel master's works
What are your philanthropic contributions to society as a designer, artist and architect?
To achieve balance and harmony. My own design is about understanding of life and culture in architecture landscape perspective.
What positive experiences you had when you attend the A’ Design Award?
I’m grateful that the supportive and confirmation from my company and family.Especially Ke Nie ,he is our design director ,who is always help and encourage me during the work. And I want to thank my family,as regard of their trust and support .
