PEARLSTIGE (formerly known as "SARASTYLE") was established in 2021. A contemporary ode to pearls brand based in Shanghai, crafting meticulously handcrafted jewelry that embodies gentleness, strength, and empowerment. The name PEARLSTIGE combines "Pearl" and "Prestige," reflecting our deep-rooted admiration for pearls and their significance in our creations. The interpretation of pearls has long remained stagnant, and PEARLSTIGE aims to revitalize this perception through modern designs. We strive to rebuild the connection between pearls and the contemporary women's lifestyle and emotions, aligning them with modern aesthetics and values. PEARLSTIGE endeavours to accompany women on their journey of self-discovery, empowering them to radiate their inner brilliance. Our brand's mission is to "Shine From Within," empowering individuals to achieve their true potential and radiate light upon others. Could you please tell us more about your art and design background? What made you become an artist/designer? Have you always wanted to be a designer?
Despite not having a professional design background, I am still passionate about jewelry design and hope to convey positive energy through my designs - the infinite possibilities of life.
Can you tell us more about your company / design studio?
PEARLSTIGE, founded in 2021, is a pearl design brand originating from China. The brand name PEARLSTIGE comes from a combination of Pearl and Prestige. We wrote Pearl into the brand name because it is the source of our creativity and passion. The interpretation of pearls has been stagnant for too long. PEARLSTIGE hopes to reinterpret pearls through design, rebuild the connection between pearls and contemporary women's lives and emotions, and make them suitable for modern life aesthetics and values. PEARLSTIGE hopes to accompany them on the path of "achieving oneself and shining on others" like pearls, just like the brand mission: "achieving oneself and shining on others Shine From Within."
What is "design" for you?
Design is a way of life, and unconsciously, design has been integrated into life.
What is your most favorite design, could you please tell more about it?
iPhones, because they have changed how humans live, are a design work that is not only from an emotional perspective but also from a rational technological perspective.
What was the first thing you designed for a company?
The crescent earrings were my first design when I joined the company.
What kind of emotions do you feel when you design?
Passion is the main focus of design in the early stages, while rationality is the main focus in the later stages.
When judging a design as good or bad, which aspects do you consider first?
We will first consider whether the initial design goals have been achieved.
From your point of view, what are the responsibilities of a designer for society and environment?
We should protect the environment, use more recyclable materials, and minimize environmental pollution during the process stage. Design works should have positive energy.
How do you think the "design field" is evolving? What is the future of design?
With the development of technology and the intervention of AI intelligence, designers face more challenges, but there will also be a group of excellent designers who survive.
Where does the design inspiration for your works come from? How do you feed your creativity? What are your sources of inspirations?
Design inspiration always comes from life, and constantly trying new things is the secret to my creativity.
How would you describe your design style? What made you explore more this style and what are the main characteristics of your style? What's your approach to design?
Elegance and delicacy are the main design styles, and more different styles will be tried according to different series, such as modern simplicity.
What are your suggestions to companies for working with a designer? How can companies select a good designer?
Enterprises and designers need to maintain consistency in aesthetics and values. Their relationship is a continuous process of adaptation. There is no perfect designer who is naturally suitable for a particular enterprise, and excellent designers constantly grow through cooperation with the enterprise.
Can you talk a little about your design process?
At the initial stage, we will extensively collect all relevant materials that can bring inspiration. At the middle stage, we will screen and sort out the materials, enter the design stage, and at the later stage, we will continue to do subtraction. The whole is like a funnel, constantly concentrating the essence.
Could you please share some pearls of wisdom for young designers? What are your suggestions to young, up and coming designers?
Designers need to maintain consistent enthusiasm and patience. The entire design process starts with emotional creation and ends with rational completion. Therefore, without sufficient psychological preparation, it will be eliminated entirely in this cycle of work.
From your perspective, what would you say are some positives and negatives of being a designer?
Advantages: Designers help solve problems, while jewelry designers help more people decorate their bodies with designs.
Which tools do you use during design? What is inside your toolbox? Such as software, application, hardware, books, sources of inspiration etc.?
Compared to traditional pens and paper, Adobe series software will be used later on.
Designing can sometimes be a really time consuming task, how do you manage your time?
Try to spare the entire time to think, and if necessary, you can imagine sketches in your mind.

How did you become a designer?
Curiosity drives me to become a designer because I find it interesting.
What are your advices to designers who are at the beginning of their career?
It is a good design to not cause pollution to the environment and solve customer needs.
How do you decide if your design is ready?
Jewelry designer JAR's works have always been my favourite designer, with diverse styles and a broad understanding of the past and present.
