- This design was handmade from scratch, using a combination of various fabrics such as spandex, lace, and other embellishments such as sequins and feathers. The foundation that created the sculpted piece is framed with metal wire and bonded using a special technique.
- Design Challenge
- The hardest part was the time and effort to sculpt the design with the metal wire. This took an extensive period of time to sculpt, frame, and secure before the fabric base could be applied.
- Research
- This design was created on Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands. The designer's view each morning created the visuals that underpinned the design. The piece was created with a direct view of the ocean to inspire the design. The designer has spent many years observing this part of the Cayman Islands.
- Inspiration
- The Cayman Islands, which are three small islands in the Caribbean, considered a top tourist destination in the region, inspired this design. These three islands' natural beauty attracts millions of tourists every year for their pristine beaches and healthy marine environment. - Project Duration
- The project started in July 2018 and was completed in Dec 2019 in the Cayman Islands.
