About Mod-Ice Förortståg

Production Technology
Interior dimensions regarding window and door interspaces are calculated to make it possible to use identical perforated sheet metals for the ceiling and identical FRP(fiber reinforced polymer) side panels created from the same mould. Tempered glasses next to doors are textured with the icing process and enlightened with the LEDs inside the hidden canals. Seat material is PP GF25(HL1-HL2-R6) to reduce the weight. Seat base and back supports are coated with nonflammable fabric. Exterior nose design is FRP and other side shells are composed of sheet metals. Some places are coated with blue textured stickers special to railway applications.
Design Challenge
The main aim is creating a modern look by using cost-effective methods and catching a harmony between interior and exterior design that both give the feeling of a cool iced atmosphere.
Research
Benchmark and field researches are done. The needs of different type of voyagers are specified and the design is conducted according to the outputs. Interior and exterior design trends, color pallets, different materials and finishing methods are gathered together on a moodboard.
