About Azure Gene Aesthetics Clinic

Azure Gene is an aesthetics clinic interior located in a 28-year-old office building in Taiwan. The 528.9-square-meter space is unified by circular forms, with curved archways, rounded cabinets and flowing corridor walls. A pastel azure and deep blue palette conveys calm and professionalism. Materials include high-hardness laminate on curved walls, quartz countertops, metal and glass partitions, and crystalline panels in wet areas. Track lights and concealed strips add soft depth. The layout separates treatment, consultation and recovery rooms for clear circulation.

Situated within the evolving design vocabulary of contemporary medical aesthetics environments, Lookher Interior Design's spatial composition demonstrates sophisticated calibration between clinical authority and hospitality warmth, a synthesis increasingly central to specialized healthcare settings where patient comfort and professional credibility must coexist seamlessly. The reception area employs architectural language rooted in minimalist modernism while incorporating luxury hospitality material sensibilities, suggesting dialogue with both Scandinavian functionalist traditions emphasizing clarity and restraint and contemporary Asian commercial interior design noted for integrating technological precision with material refinement. The compositional achievement centers on spatial legibility combined with atmospheric appeal, where clear axial organization along the perspective vanishing point provides intuitive wayfinding while layered lighting strategies create dimensional depth and environmental warmth that transcend purely functional illumination. Chromatic sophistication emerges through the deployment of a restricted palette exploiting subtle temperature relationships, where the dominant cool blues establish clinical associations of hygiene, precision, and technological advancement, counterbalanced by warm neutrals preventing atmospheric coldness and introducing associations of natural materials and organic comfort. The material selection demonstrates particular accomplishment in balancing contrasting surface qualities: the smooth luminous marble-effect reception desk projects permanence and investment in quality while maintaining visual lightness through its pale tonality and delicate veining, while the matte vertical paneling provides textural interest and sound-dampening functionality without competing for visual dominance. The strategic placement of cylindrical ottomans in the foreground serves multiple compositional and functional purposes, establishing human scale, providing seating flexibility, introducing material and chromatic variety through the cognac leather and cream fabric pairing, and creating visual punctuation that prevents the space from reading as overly austere or institutional. Lighting design represents a notable formal achievement, with the concealed cove perimeter system creating the illusion of floating ceiling planes that expand perceived volume while the integrated blue underglow beneath the reception desk functions simultaneously as wayfinding beacon, brand identity reinforcement, and contemporary design signature that signals technological sophistication appropriate to aesthetic medical practice. The work invites consideration of how spatial design within specialized healthcare contexts negotiates the dual imperatives of professional authority and patient-centered comfort, where environmental factors communicate competence while simultaneously reducing anxiety, establishing trust through material quality and spatial clarity while maintaining approachability through warmth and human-scaled interventions—how might visitors experience this threshold space as both reassuringly professional and genuinely welcoming, and what role does the careful orchestration of color, light, material, and proportion play in constructing such multivalent spatial atmospheres?

Unique Properties
The space is unified by circular forms that symbolize genetic evolution, guiding a fluid visual flow along corridors and walls. Curved archways and rounded cabinets extend this motif, conveying a sense of continuity and gentle elegance. Inspired by the 'Ring of Genes,' the design conveys cyclic growth and renewal. A layered palette of metals, glass, lacquer, and quartz adds refinement, while dynamic lighting with LEDs and concealed strips creates dreamlike depth, balancing elegance with a futuristic atmosphere.
Dimensions & Packaging
The 528.9-square-meter space, set in a 28-year-old office building, is organized into two service counters-one for aesthetic medicine and one for general surgery-plus a laser room, four beauty rooms, a micro-plastic surgery room, and three consultation rooms. It also includes two washing/beauty rooms, an employee lounge, two operating rooms, and two recovery rooms. Clear circulation ensures hygiene and safety, while the use of blank space and a streamlined layout prevents confinement, making the clinic feel both spacious and functional.

Production Technology
Materials include high-hardness laminate on curved walls and cabinets for durability and flame resistance, while quartz stone on countertops and reception tables adds refinement and easy maintenance. Metal and glass partitions enhance brightness and modernity, and crystalline wall panels with a gray terrazzo finish are applied in wet areas for waterproofing and easy cleaning. Lighting combines track lights, strips, and localized projection to create an elegant, soft atmosphere, bringing stylish sophistication to the overall design.
Design Challenge
The main challenge lay in balancing design aesthetics with the integration of new elements into a 28-year-old office building. Building the curved walls was especially demanding, as the high-hardness laminate required repeated precision measurements and heat-shaping to achieve perfect arcs. In addition, the original layout was ill-suited for an aesthetic clinic, so the team strategically removed sections and carried out inventive renovations while maintaining structural integrity. This approach created a more spacious, efficient layout that met modern needs without compromising the building.
Project Duration
The project finished in December 2023 in Taiwan.
Operation Flow
Feedback from both the owner and clients was overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing surprise that the space felt more expansive than its actual 528.9 square meters. The ingenious use of ceiling height and lighting, along with a soft palette of creamy hues and deep blue, created an ambiance of exceptional comfort and high quality. Visitors appreciated how the meticulous design allowed them to feel at ease and inspired, enjoying professional aesthetic services while also experiencing a natural flow of confidence and beauty. The carefully crafted visual continuity ensured that the space never felt confined.
Research
Inspired by the brand's spirit of 'Transformation Gene,' the designer used a deep blue palette to convey stability and professionalism. Circular motifs symbolize evolution's endless cycle and beauty's possibilities, resonating with urban women's pursuit of confidence and style. The 'Ring of Genes' is expressed through curved archways, walkways, and walls, creating fluid harmony. Layered materials reveal refined details: metal and glass add futurism, lacquer and quartz bring sophistication. The result is an elegant, stylish space where visitors rediscover beauty and confidence from within.
Inspiration
In renovating the aging office, the designer drew from the brand spirit of 'Transformation Gene.' A pastel azure base conveyed stability and professionalism, while circular motifs symbolized the cycle of transformation and beauty in evolution. With urban women as the main clientele, the space exudes confidence and allure through a refined, precise atmosphere. From entry, visitors sense professionalism blended with futuristic elegance, where functionality and beauty merge, inviting each client on a journey of self-expression.
