About Casa Udo Residential Apartment
Udo means peace in Hindu, a reflection of what the designer had been searching for this project and executed in its ambiance. She describes it as a symbol of amplitude, where the unity of colors come together in harmony. All the spaces in Casa Udo have elements of design that forces its visitors to admire them. From the simplicity in the entrance to its complicity with the living areas. These spaces have been designed in earthy hues to create the sensation of lightness and tranquility it offers.

- Unique Properties
- All the spaces in Casa Udo have elements of design that forces you to admire them. The simplicity in the entrance and its complicity with the grand living room. These spaces are in earthy hues to create the sensation of lightness and tranquility it offers. The study, however, is a statement as it differs from the other spaces in the apartment in its strong use of color, resulting in a space of admiration. We used a special wall paper that matches the color of our built in furniture but allows texture to form. In the dining room you have so many wow factors, for example, the table in its own, made out of white Carrara marble smooth to create endless curves or the built in wine cellar which excelled the owner’s expectation. One of my favorite spaces has to be the terrace, the atmosphere created here by the technique with micro cement on the walls, or the bold selection of furniture meshed into a beautiful space. Once you leave the social areas of Casa Udo and move on to the bedrooms, we had 4 clients within the main one, so we sat down with each child and figured out their personalities, their hobbies and converted these conversations into design.
- Dimensions & Packaging
- The apartment is overall close to 700 m2. The height of the apartment is 4m.

- Production Technology
- Unique features of our designs were implementing different textured techniques for wall coverings adjacent to smooth sleek designed furniture. We worked with local artisans to create micro cement handmade techniques on the walls to give a sense of the industrial look, while contrasting with interesting chic furniture. We also worked with mdf paneling made and painted inside the apartment which also created different dimensiones in depth on the walls. The built in unit for the study was also designed and made in mdf which was later painted a dark shade of green.
- Design Challenge
- The hardest part of this project was the timeline to complete it in six months, with perfect high-end finishing.
- Project Duration
- The project started in August of 2021 and was completed by February 2022 and its located in the most prestigious street of Santo Domingo Dominican Republic.
- Operation Flow
- We started with a blank canvas which we transformed into a beautiful environment, full of personality.
- Research
- For Casa Udo, we were able to implement various techniques for finishings. We wanted a dynamic way of presenting a subtle ambiance on the walls, therefore we chose to create special designs in MDF panels which were later on lacquered on site.
- Inspiration
- Udo means peace in Hindu, just the name I had been searching for this project, since its exactly what is reflected in its ambiance.
It’s a symbol of amplitude, where the unity of colors come together in perfect harmony. Creativity flies when there are no limits, and it’s exactly what happened in this project. All the spaces in Casa Udo have elements of design that force you to admire them. - Image Credits

Design Interview about Casa Udo Residential Apartment
The main idea was to inspire peace. Design a home filled with details and elements that emit tranquility.
My main focus when designing is the desire of my client. I want to transmit within my design, the feelings and the personality our clients have shown us. This is the way to create a true home, in which the owner feels tied to.
Our future plans on this design is for it to become a point of reference for all of our clients, we truly feel that through design we can create anything. Beauty and commodity all in one.
Casa Udo took a period of five weeks to design and quote from beginning to end.
Our design concept was defined in every detail by us for our clients. We decided to go with this concept because our client wanted a modern feel that inspired peace. Therefore, we chose colors, textures and furnishings that all were in accordance with our concept.
This interior design space is our own and we do not plan on leasing it to others.
We are a design studio, therefore one of our specialties is residential design.
In this case we were completely inspired by our first interview with our clients, we believe that the first conversations with our clients tell us what we need to know when designing their home.
Our end client, which is the homeowner.
This design is unique in its own as it holds a mixture of identities based on our clients' desires and our creativity.
We always choose a name that even serves for inspiration and more over that can describe our design in one word. For this project we have chosen UDO, which means peace in Hindu.
While working on this and every project in our studio, we use various tools, like; auto cad, vector works, 3d Design, Power Point and Excel for proforma planing.
The most unique aspect of our design is the fluidity that is shown from area to area, every space flows like water in a river. There is an easy transition and usefulness to each space.
Our collaborators are those who work on a day to day in the supervision of these designs, in this case, Arq Diana Rivas and Leandro Ramos worked with me.
We chose to use, all LED lighting for this design, low consumption air conditioning and MDF paneling instead of wood to create warmth.
Like in any other work, we faced challenges throughout, I am a very perfectionist designer and since our work speaks for us, i accepted nothing less out of my suppliers. We worked all the finishing with our own team of manufacturers, so they are well adjusted to our standards.
We have submitted before to others, but this is the first time we have submitted to A design Award.
There is always room for improvement, listening to my client is one of them, there were instances where my client preferred a variation of the overall concept, and we were able to adjust and deliver to their liking.
