About China Moutai Global Retail Store
China Moutai is a retail store interior design of 317 square meters created for a baijiu brand experience space. The design combines product display with interactive installations. Sorghum and wheat are arranged in rhythmic arrays to express regional identity. A color wheel shows how the liquor hue changes with age, and a flavor wall explains sauce aromas through graphics and scent modules. Perforated screens recall the micropores of earthenware jars and act as dividers. Light woods, metal details, oyster gray and off white finishes form the palette.
Scene Aesthetics Design Co., Ltd's China Moutai Global Retail Store emerges within a contemporary retail landscape increasingly attuned to the spatial articulation of brand heritage, cultural authenticity, and elevated consumer experience, positioning this environment within broader trajectories in luxury retail design that seek to transcend mere transaction and construct immersive worlds where products become protagonists in carefully choreographed narratives of tradition, craftsmanship, and cultural pride; the design demonstrates sophisticated compositional intelligence through its deployment of radial geometry as organizational principle, the concentric ceiling rings and cylindrical wall treatment creating a centralized spatial focus that draws visitors into the heart of the environment while the curved service counter establishes a graceful foreground gesture that mediates between visitor and displayed offerings, this circular schema evoking both cosmological mandalas suggesting cosmic order and wholeness, and practical market typologies where goods surround the customer in accessible abundance; chromatic accomplishment appears particularly evident in the restrained palette discipline, the extensive warm neutral foundation allowing the blonde timber latticework to function as both structural element and luminous veil, the rhythmic geometric screen filtering light and view to create layered transparency while the strategic deployment of saturated crimson upholstery provides essential chromatic counterpoint, these calculated color relationships demonstrating sophisticated understanding of how limited palette ranges can amplify spatial serenity while selective high-chroma accents can activate zones of human interaction and repose; technical facility manifests in the precision joinery visible throughout the timber latticework, each elongated hexagonal unit apparently mitered and fitted with meticulous care, the repetitive geometry maintaining dimensional consistency across extensive wall surfaces while accommodating the cylindrical curve of the perimeter, this marriage of traditional craft values and contemporary fabrication technologies speaking to the broader thematic concern with honoring heritage while embracing modernity; the material vocabulary itself carries significant communicative weight, the blonde timber suggesting natural authenticity, aging processes, organic warmth, and craft tradition, the cream plaster or composite surfaces providing visual serenity and spatial luminosity, the stone or composite counter conveying solidity and permanence, and the crimson velvet or mohair upholstery offering tactile luxury and saturated color experience, each material choice appearing deliberate and symbolically resonant rather than arbitrary; the lighting design achieves notable atmospheric effects through concealed cove illumination within the ceiling's concentric bands, creating the impression of innate luminosity rather than applied artificial light, this strategy bathing the space in gentle warmth that enhances material textures and establishes psychological comfort, the supplementary spotlighting within display niches adding focused drama without disrupting the overall tonal harmony; thematically, the environment appears to explore the intersection of tradition and contemporary expression, heritage and innovation, intimacy and refinement, creating a spatial experience that honors the cultural legacy embedded in the products displayed while offering a distinctly modern interpretation freed from literal historicism or nostalgic pastiche; the hexagonal lattice motif might reference traditional woven screens, bamboo construction, honeycomb natural geometries, or the faceted surfaces of cut crystal, each association enriching the symbolic field while the elongated vertical proportion suggests aspiration, growth, and upward movement; the radial spatial organization positions the visitor at the center of a carefully constructed universe where every sightline, material surface, and illuminated detail contributes to a cohesive brand narrative, the environment functioning less as neutral backdrop for product display and more as active participant in constructing meaning, value, and cultural identity; one might consider how this spatial strategy creates durational engagement rather than transactional efficiency, inviting contemplative lingering and ceremonial appreciation rather than hurried selection, the serene material palette and enveloping curved geometry suggesting sanctuary or temple typologies where the act of acquisition becomes ritualized and elevated, and how the careful calibration of intimacy through scale, proportion, lighting, and material warmth establishes psychological comfort that encourages extended inhabitation and deepened brand connection, prompting reflection on how spatial design itself can become a form of cultural storytelling and heritage preservation.

- Production Technology
- Light natural woods like maple, oak, and beech account for 45 percent of the palette, evoking warm Eastern elegance. Metal makes up 20 percent, used for joints and detailing to enhance modern sophistication. Oyster gray and off white finishes comprise 30 percent, evoking visual calm and spatial breathability. Signature brand red is kept under 5 percent, reserved for key identifiers or focal installations. All materials prioritize environmental responsibility, durability, and tactile quality.
- Design Challenge
- The core innovation is a living, interactive space that translates the biological traits of baijiu, such as respiration and evolution, into spatial forms and sensory engagement for the first time. Moreover, a tiered brand element system ensures consistency and adaptability across flagship stores, boutiques, and dedicated zones. Meanwhile, three traditional Chinese patterns are reimagined to seamlessly blend intangible cultural heritage aesthetics with modern retail contexts.
- Project Duration
- The first flagship store is expected to open in Singapore in June 2026.
- Operation Flow
- The space features multiple interactive installations. Sorghum and wheat are arranged in rhythmic arrays to reinforce regional identity. A dynamic color wheel illustrates how the Moutai hue evolves with age. A flavor wall decodes the complexity of sauce aromas through visual graphics and scent modules. Perforated screens inspired by the micropores of earthenware jars emulate the slow breathing of aging baijiu, functioning as both spatial dividers and poetic metaphors.
- Research
- As consumption upgrades and the experience economy grows, premium baijiu brands must move from functional value to emotional resonance. As a national cultural symbol, Moutai aims to enhance cultural depth and contemporary relevance through spatial expression. To support brand strategic transformation, the design aligns with the desires of Generation Z and high net worth individuals for ritual, personalization, and cultural belonging, redefining the relationship between the brand and consumers.
- Inspiration
- The design grows from the living nature of Moutai baijiu, expressing its continuous respiration through earthenware micropores and the gradual flavor evolution over time. It also draws on the natural logic of the Chishui River Basin, integrating water, soil, air, and microflora into spatial design and installations. Three traditional Chinese patterns symbolize hospitality, craft heritage, and flowing sauce aromas. Together, they form a spatial language that blends nature, time, and culture.
