About Episode Conveni Residential Brand System
Episode Conveni is a brand system created for a residential service focused on efficient urban living. The identity is built around the metaphor of a switch, so that essential services can be turned on and unnecessary elements turned off. The system includes a logo architecture, a typographic and color scheme, and an icon language for digital interfaces. Signage, digital content, and user communication follow the same visual rules. The result is scalable and can be adapted to each location while remaining consistent.
Yiseo Kwon's Episode Conveni Residential Brand System positions itself within the evolving contemporary discourse surrounding residential hospitality and urban co-living environments, where design identity functions simultaneously as wayfinding infrastructure, brand ambassador, and architectural punctuation within dense mixed-use neighborhoods. The compositional achievement demonstrates sophisticated chromatic economy, restricting the palette to three primary elements—warm white typography, deep chocolate brown substrate, and a single saturated azure accent—thereby achieving maximum legibility and memorability while avoiding visual cacophony common to competing retail signage systems. The typographic handling reveals careful consideration of hierarchy and rhythm, with the lowercase "episode" establishing brand voice through approachable intimacy while the dramatically scaled "CONVENI" asserts visual presence and functional clarity, the substitution of the first "O" with a circular azure element transforming utilitarian letterforms into distinctive brand signature that rewards repeated viewing and builds recognition equity over time. Technical execution demonstrates meticulous attention to fabrication quality, edge definition, finish consistency, and lighting integration, suggesting collaboration between brand strategist, graphic designer, fabricator, and environmental designer to achieve seamless translation from two-dimensional identity system to three-dimensional architectural application. The sign structure employs double-sided illuminated construction with internal LED arrays, ensuring visibility during evening hours when residential hospitality environments experience peak arrival activity, while the shallow projecting blade format respects pedestrian circulation zones and maintains visibility for both approaching foot traffic and passing vehicular observers. The brown background field functions as visual anchor, providing sufficient contrast for white letterforms while introducing warmth absent from more conventional black substrates, this chromatic choice suggesting craft sensibility and residential comfort rather than corporate sterility or commercial urgency. The circular azure accent operates at multiple registers simultaneously: as visual punctuation breaking the rectangular monotony of letterforms, as chromatic focal point drawing the eye inward and encouraging closer reading, as brand differentiation element distinguishing this identity from countless neighboring retail signs, and as conceptual marker suggesting completeness, wholeness, or the cyclic nature of residential episodes and daily convenience rhythms. The work invites consideration of how environmental graphic systems mediate between architectural context and brand narrative, transforming functional wayfinding requirements into opportunities for identity expression, community building, and aesthetic contribution to shared urban landscapes, suggesting that even modest-scale commercial signage possesses capacity to enhance rather than diminish neighborhood character when approached with formal discipline and environmental sensitivity.

- Production Technology
- Our branding system was developed through a process that began with user insight research, followed by strategic planning and iterative design. We established the brand architecture using persona modeling, user journey mapping, and behavioral analysis within the space. Key visual elements—including logo, typography, and color system—were applied across both digital and physical touchpoints to ensure users can intuitively recognize and experience the brand.
- Design Challenge
- The biggest challenge was balancing intuitive simplicity with a differentiated visual identity. Internally, the brand’s expansion across various residential formats needed to be visually captured, while externally, it was difficult to build a flexible system that could adapt across both digital and offline media.
- Project Duration
- The project began in April 2023 in Seoul, Korea, and was completed in July 2025. It was implemented and launched at Episode Conveni Gasan in August 2025.
- Operation Flow
- This brand system guides users through a seamless experience across digital and physical spaces. Clear icon language, consistent signage, and responsive design help people understand and navigate spaces intuitively. It adapts flexibly to each site, creating a coherent yet localized interaction with users.
- Research
- This research focused on developing a scalable brand system for a lifestyle housing brand. The objective was to create a unified visual language across digital and physical environments. A design methodology combining benchmarking, internal interviews, and iterative prototyping was used. The result was a flexible identity system with consistent application across signage, web, and user communications. It enabled brand coherence while allowing local adaptability.
- Inspiration
- This project began with the observation that urban residents are increasingly seeking practical and simplified residential experiences. As lifestyles become more fluid and routine oriented, we identified a growing shift away from traditional homeownership models toward flexible and efficient spaces that better support diverse daily patterns. We recognized the need for a new housing experience that reduces complexity, eases decision making, and enables users to focus on what truly matters in their everyday lives.
