About Horus Motor Yacht

Horus is a motor yacht designed for private cruising with guests. The yacht measures 49.95 meters in length overall, with a beam of 9.95 meters. The hull and superstructure are made of aluminum, which keeps the vessel light. A diesel-electric hybrid system with two azipods lowers emissions and improves maneuverability. The owner area includes a two-deck suite with a private terrace. Four guest cabins refer to the four elements of earth, water, air and fire. A swimming pool, jacuzzi, spa, hammam and gym are also provided.

Box Design's Horus Motor Yacht represents a distinguished contribution to contemporary superyacht architecture, positioning itself within the evolving design discourse that prioritizes sculptural exterior volumes, extensive natural light penetration, and the seamless integration of interior comfort with maritime functionality, a discourse shaped by advances in composite construction technologies, computational design tools enabling complex three-dimensional surface development, and evolving client expectations for vessels that function simultaneously as private residences, entertainment venues, and symbols of refined taste. The compositional achievement evidenced here demonstrates sophisticated understanding of volumetric balance, visual rhythm, and proportional refinement across the vessel's substantial length, the cascading deck arrangement creating both functional outdoor spaces and a dynamic stepped profile that animates the exterior massing while maintaining coherent formal unity through continuous surface language and restrained material palette, the interplay between solid sculptural fairings in pearl white and the extensive dark glazing establishing a disciplinary dialogue between opacity and transparency, enclosure and openness, mass and void that enriches the reading experience and suggests thoughtful interior planning responding to occupant needs for prospect, privacy, and connection to the surrounding seascape. The chromatic sophistication of the achromatic scheme, relying entirely on tonal variation, surface finish, and form articulation rather than applied color decoration, demonstrates design confidence and aligns the work with modernist architectural traditions valuing essential form, material honesty, and functional clarity, while the organic fluidity of the surfacing recalls both natural phenomena such as wind-sculpted landforms or flowing water and the aerodynamic investigations of mid-century industrial design, suggesting conceptual depth beyond mere styling exercise. Technical merit resides in the apparently seamless surface execution, the precise alignment of glazing elements within the surrounding envelope, the sophisticated handling of transitions between materials and deck levels, and the successful resolution of numerous functional requirements including navigation equipment housing, tender storage, crew circulation, guest amenity spaces, and mechanical systems integration within a coherent aesthetic framework that privileges visual harmony and sculptural presence, passages of particular accomplishment including the dramatic cantilevered flybridge structure that floats above the main deck volume creating both shelter and bold formal gesture, and the refined bow geometry that tapers to a decisive point while maintaining sufficient volume for forward interior spaces. Thematically, Horus Motor Yacht explores the intersection of technological capability and aesthetic refinement, the vessel serving as both functional marine architecture and sculptural object that activates its environment through form, proportion, and material presence, inviting contemplation of humanity's enduring fascination with waterborne exploration, the sea as site of freedom and possibility, and the design challenge of creating mobile private architecture that must satisfy complex technical requirements while expressing cultural values around luxury, taste, and the good life as understood within contemporary global elite contexts. One might observe how the design negotiates between boldness and restraint, achieving visual presence through volumetric gesture and massing strategy while exercising color and ornamental discipline, and consider how such vessels function semiotically as markers of achievement, technological optimism, and design excellence within the specialized yet globally distributed maritime luxury sector, what aesthetic and experiential pleasures might emerge from inhabiting such carefully conceived spaces surrounded by sea and sky, and how the integration of form, function, material, and context demonstrated here might inform broader conversations about designed environments that enhance human experience while demonstrating respect for craft tradition and contemporary possibility.

Unique Properties
The yacht owner's unique experience is ensured with a two-deck suite and private terrace. Four cabins, each bearing signs of the four basic elements, aim to offer guests a special experience. Prioritizing guest comfort, the yacht includes a swimming pool, jacuzzi, spa, hammam, gym, and lounge areas. An eco-friendly design is achieved with a diesel hybrid propulsion system. Azipod propulsion system has been chosen, enhancing the yacht's maneuverability.

Production Technology
Organic forms are the foundation of the design. Fluid lines give the yacht a dynamic appearance. Large windows increase the interior spaciousness. The interior features wide spaces to prioritize guest comfort. The yacht owner's private areas include a cabin with a wide view on the upper deck, an office, and a terrace on the main deck. The hull and superstructure will be made of aluminum, ensuring the yacht's lightness. Thanks to the innovative and eco-friendly diesel-electric propulsion system, cruising is done with low emissions.
Design Challenge
The main challenge of the project was to design a diesel-electric propulsion yacht under 500 gross tons and 50 meters long. An innovative general layout plan was developed to ensure sufficient space for technical areas while maximizing guest comfort. The coherence between exterior and interior designs reflecting the defined concept played a significant role in the project's design.
Project Duration
The project design started in Istanbul in January 2024 and compilated in May 2024.
Operation Flow
Electricity stored in the batteries provides an eco-friendly and quiet cruising experience in zero-emission mode (at low cruising speed). Diesel generators produce the necessary electricity. The propulsion system, powered by two azipods, enhances maneuverability and ensures fuel efficiency. Fin stabilizers have been used to elevate cruising comfort to the highest level.
Research
The main research focus of the project has been to design an environmentally friendly and comfortable yacht. Innovative technologies were researched, and among systems currently feasible, the most suitable one was chosen for the project. The hull form design involved studying semi-displacement yacht forms, with efforts made to integrate a bulb for the semi-displacement form.
Inspiration
The yacht's concept is heavily influenced by Horus's eye and the four basic elements; earth, water, air, and fire. These elements, fundamental in both Western and some Eastern philosophies, symbolize balance across physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual realms. While cultural symbols for these elements vary, the core idea is consistent. The yacht's interior and exterior designs integrate these elements, using organic forms to emphasize nature.
