About Huizhou Bay Resort Vacation Club

Huizhou Bay Resort is a vacation club interior located in Huizhou, Guangdong Province, China. The project covers about 836 square meters and was completed in May 2020. The design takes inspiration from nature and uses circular forms with simple detailing. Wood, Yabo gray marble, jade green marble, bronze metal and laminated glass are the main materials. Large windows and a semicircular wooden partition bring daylight and views of the mountains and sea into the space. The warm wood tones create a calm setting for guests seeking quiet away from the city.

Zou Hongbo's Huizhou Bay Resort Vacation Club presents a masterful meditation on threshold, transition, and the contemplative possibilities inherent in carefully orchestrated interior space, drawing upon centuries of Eastern architectural philosophy wherein the journey through space becomes as significant as the destination itself, the design demonstrates sophisticated understanding of how traditional spatial devices may be reinterpreted through contemporary material expression and refined minimalist sensibility, the circular moon gate aperture references the yuèliàngmén of classical garden architecture while the vertical timber screen evokes traditional lattice work translated into modern proportions and materials creating a visual filtration that transforms ordinary passage into ceremonial procession, technically the composition reveals exceptional command of layered spatial planning wherein multiple planes create rhythmic depth recession guiding occupants through successive thresholds of increasing intimacy, the chromatic restraint operating within a carefully calibrated palette of warm neutrals demonstrates understanding that sophisticated color relationships emerge through subtle variation rather than dramatic contrast, the solitary figural sculpture positioned as focal point suggests contemplation of human presence and scale within architectural volume while its attenuated form references modernist sculptural traditions particularly the existential figuration of post-war European masters, material selections including the verde antico marble base and burnished brass luminaire details reveal commitment to enduring material quality that develops patina and character over time, lighting design demonstrates particular sensitivity with concealed linear sources creating gentle vertical washes that emphasize the fluted pilaster detailing while natural illumination from the glazed wall establishes vital connection between interior sanctuary and the natural environment beyond, visitors may find themselves drawn to consider how the interplay between concealment and revelation, between boundary and aperture, shapes our experience of moving through space and how traditional architectural wisdom continues to offer guidance for creating environments of genuine tranquility and contemplative depth.
