About Lavazza Elogy Barista Coffee Machine

Elogy Barista is a multi beverage system designed to offer Italian coffee culture: from espresso, to cappuccino, latte and hot chocolate. The design is building on Lavazzas established form language in this segment. Slightly more serious and professional but still recognizably Italian in surfacing, details and finish. A modern design full of personality that brings Italian coffee culture to every home. Che bello!

Within the distinguished lineage of domestic appliance design that has transformed utilitarian kitchen objects into expressions of lifestyle aspiration and material culture refinement, the Lavazza Elogy Barista Coffee Machine emerges as a thoughtfully resolved synthesis of functional engineering and aesthetic consideration. The work participates in a broader contemporary movement toward elevating everyday domestic rituals through design intelligence, positioning the preparation of espresso beverages as a moment worthy of considered attention rather than mere mechanical convenience. The bipartite formal vocabulary demonstrates sophisticated understanding of visual hierarchy, with the darker operational module commanding attention through its concentrated density while the lighter reservoir element provides spatial balance and volumetric generosity. Particularly accomplished is the chromatic restraint exercised throughout, where the neutral palette of ivory, black, and chrome establishes timeless elegance while avoiding trend-dependent color choices that might compromise longevity. The material palette reveals nuanced sensitivity to tactile experience: matte surfaces invite touch while glossy elements suggest precision, and transparent glass components introduce visual lightness while celebrating the amber richness of the extracted beverage itself. The integrated interface panel demonstrates considered information hierarchy through its clean iconographic system, balancing operational clarity with aesthetic minimalism. One observes in this design an appreciation for the phenomenology of coffee preparation, the anticipation created by watching golden streams descend into waiting vessels, the satisfaction of dual-cup capability suggesting hospitality and sharing. The composition invites contemplation of how contemporary design increasingly seeks to honor domestic rituals through objects that reward both functional interaction and visual appreciation, transforming the kitchen counter into a space of aesthetic consideration.

Unique Properties
The wide range of recipes available at the touch of a finger is an important feature in the single serve market. All these preparations are possible thanks to a unique brewing technology and patented milk frothing system. With True Capp, it is also possible to prepare a cappuccino or latte macchiato directly in the ceramic cup. Another important aspect is the possibility to brew two coffees simultaneously with the special spout. Elogy Barista offers authentic Italian coffee culture.

Design Challenge
Elogy Barista is replacing a successful product with a new and dynamic design and a tight development process. New features and special attention to environmental impact and energy consumption were important. Repairability and the possibility of regenerating the product were also very important aspects.
Project Duration
The project was designed in Turin, Italy. The complete product development from initial concept to final product took about two and a half years.
Operation Flow
The machine is easy to use and comes with a patented milk frothing system and a dedicated milk jug. The cup rest has a stainless steel grid and can be adjusted easily, placing small cups closer to the spout. This reduces splashes and benefits coffee temperature and crema. The water tank is easily accessible and is treated as a separate, transparent volume. The touch sensitive user interface guarantees a smooth user experience.
Research
Development process through conceptual and formal research, 3D modelling, physical mock-ups, prototyping.
Inspiration
The design builds on Lavazza's established form language and provides a vision for the future. Designed with love in Italy Elogy Barista celebrates its Mediterranean identity with attention to detail, colour and finishes. All of which were carefully chosen to reflect the professional soul of the appliance. Surfaces and volumes are precisely controlled with a strong and stable main body. The wrap around shell is characterised by dynamic lines and Lavazza logos on the sides.
