About Mirror Sales Center

Mirror is a sales center interior created for a space with a low ceiling of 2.5 meters and limited natural light. Mirrored surfaces on the walls and ceiling reflect the interior and make the height appear to reach 5 meters or more. Walls of translucent jade glass, an eco-friendly recycled material, contain LED strips that spread a soft glow. Reflective stone and high-gloss lacquer add brightness. Thin jade stone panels join the walls and the ceiling without visible seams. The result is an open area for display, sales and client meetings.

Kris Lin's Mirror Sales Center exemplifies the refined sensibilities of contemporary Asian interior design practice, where spatial experience transcends mere function to engage visitors in a phenomenological meditation on materiality, light, and perception. The work demonstrates exceptional command of what might be termed reflective architecture, employing mirrored surfaces on both ceiling and floor planes to create a vertical doubling that expands the perceived volume while introducing contemplative ambiguity about the boundaries between actual and reflected space. The designer appears to draw upon traditions of spatial refinement found in both Eastern philosophical approaches to emptiness and presence and Western modernist explorations of transparency and reflection, synthesizing these influences into a distinctly contemporary vocabulary. The translucent wall panels, suggesting precious materials such as alabaster or backlit onyx, transform the boundary between interior zones into a surface of captured luminosity, their gridded organization providing geometric order while their soft glow introduces an almost spiritual quality of diffused radiance. Technical accomplishment manifests in the seamless integration of multiple reflective and translucent systems, the precise calibration of ambient and accent lighting, and the sophisticated color coordination that maintains visual coherence across diverse materials. The furnishing arrangement visible through the central threshold—comfortable seating surrounding a substantial table—suggests the space's function as a setting for considered decision-making, appropriate to its commercial purpose while elevated through aesthetic refinement to the realm of experiential design. The work invites contemplation of how material choices and spatial orchestration can transform commercial environments into spaces that honor both practical requirements and the human desire for beauty, asking viewers to consider what qualities distinguish merely functional spaces from those that truly engage the spirit.

Unique Properties
1.Objective:
To create a sales office that serves as a showcase for displaying, selling, and facilitating interactions with clients.

2.Constraints:
The project has a low ceiling height of only 2.5 meters, resulting in limited vertical space, small floor area, dim indoor lighting, and poor natural light penetration.
Dimensions & Packaging
1.Jade Glass
It has the characteristics of 1. translucency, 2. wear resistance, 3. zero radiation, and 4. eco-friendly recycling. It also has low maintenance costs and good visual effects.

2.DEKTON Slim Jade Rock Slab
The maximum original size is 3300X1400mm, with a thickness of only 4MM. It greatly reduces the structural load, making it applicable in various places such as ceilings, cabinets, and walls, presenting a visual aesthetic that extends from the ground to the bar ceiling.

Production Technology
1.Jade Glass
Jade glass is a special decorative material that combines the transparency of glass with the texture beauty of jade stone, creating a bright indoor environment.

2.Ceiling Panels: Dekton Slim Jade Stone Panels
Utilizing large-sized, lightweight, fusion, and recyclable Dekton Slim jade stone panels for ceiling and wall decoration, achieving seamless integration between the walls and ceilings, enhancing aesthetic appeal, and expanding the visual perception of space.
Design Challenge
Challenge: A low ceiling of 2.5 meters, a compact space, and limited natural light result in dim illumination.

1.Mirror Reflection: Mirrors on walls and ceilings visually enlarge the area, offering a sense of spaciousness.

2.Translucent Jade Rock Slabs: These allow for improved light penetration, brightening and adding transparency to the space.

3.High Gloss Materials: Mirrored stone and high-gloss lacquer enhance light reflection, increasing brightness and expanding the visual space.
Project Duration
The project began design in Shanghai, China, in May 2023 and was completed in Jiangxi Province, China, in February 2024.
Operation Flow
Transforming a sales office with a low ceiling height of 2.5 meters and a dimly lit space into a practical and aesthetically pleasing environment involves:

1.Utilizing the reflective effect of mirrors to virtually raise the ceiling height, making the interior visually more spacious.

2.By installing LED strip lights on translucent jade stone rock panel walls, a soft glow is created, beautifying the space while enhancing brightness.
Research
By strategically placing mirrored materials throughout the space, they can reflect and extend the actual 2.5-meter ceiling height to appear as if it is 5 meters or even higher, greatly expanding the space's height visually. This makes the entire space look much more open.
Inspiration
1.Mirror:
By reflecting through mirrors, it breaks through the height limitation, visually enlarging the space, reflecting a mere 2.5M ceiling height to 5 meters or more.
2.LightWall:
The walls are made of translucent jade glass (an eco-friendly recycled material), with LED strips installed inside. The light passing through the jade glass overcomes the dimness of the space.
3.High-gloss materials:
Reflective stone materials and bright lacquer finishes expand the visual effect of the space.
