About Noble Gathering Clubhouse
The Noble Gathering Club of Shanghai Reeb is an important supporting facility for the Noble Gathering high-end serviced apartment, which is part of the urban renewal project of Shanghai Reeb Brewery. Adhering to the core concept of Modern Shanghai Style, it subtly extracts the elements of Shanghai's iconic Shikumen architecture as the spatial motif, and reinterprets the cultural charm of old Shanghai through contemporary design language. It is exclusively designed to provide urban elites with luxury services under hotel style management and high end social spaces.
This interior composition, realized within the Noble Gathering Clubhouse by DM Space Design Co., Ltd., represents a distinguished achievement in contemporary hospitality design that synthesizes Eastern aesthetic sensibilities with international luxury conventions. The double-height volume establishes immediate spatial grandeur while the carefully orchestrated material palette of warm wood veneers, polished stone, and metallic accents creates an atmosphere of cultivated refinement that honors traditions of gathering and hospitality. The designers demonstrate particular sensitivity to the phenomenology of interior experience, choreographing a sequence of visual discoveries that reward prolonged engagement: from the commanding pendant luminaire whose organic segmented form suggests both lantern traditions and contemporary sculptural practice, to the museum-quality display system presenting objects with curatorial precision against illuminated backdrops. - Design Challenge
- The project site was originally a modern office building. Per the client’s requirements, it was repurposed into a high-end serviced apartment complex. The scope of this design project focuses on the renovation of the clubhouse space that supports the serviced apartments.
The key design challenges of the project included the following:
1.Spatial reconfiguration: Specifically, how to fully leverage the high-ceilinged lobby space to create more multi-functional clubhouse areas.
2.Stylistic coherence during transition: Achieving a cohesive aesthetic while retaining some of the original decorative surfaces.
3.Integration of new and existing materials & construction techniques: This involved striking a harmonious balance between new and old materials, as well as implementing protective measures for the retained existing materials throughout the construction process. - Project Duration
- The project commenced in November 2024, was completed in May 2025, and was officially opened to the public in July 2025. It is located in Shanghai, China.

- Facilities cater to diverse lifestyles, encompassing a garden-style entrance courtyard, a hotel-style lobby, and versatile areas including a lounge, bar, business meeting room, reading zone, children’s play area, gym, yoga room, tea room, billiards room, and card games room .

- In the initial phase, the design team conducted on-site surveys of Shanghai’s historical and cultural buildings, collecting architectural and interior design elements. These were categorized, analyzed, refined, and reimagined through a modern lens to align with contemporary aesthetics, then integrated into the clubhouse design.
Key examples include the Shikumen, an iconic traditional architectural feature, reinterpreted as a streamlined modern spatial motif using contemporary materials. Additionally, linear elements from traditional buildings were simplified and abstracted into sleek decorative lines incorporated into the interior.
This approach infuses the modern space with traditional historical charm. Combined with modern materials and construction techniques, it has resulted in a high-end living space seamlessly blending historical allure and modern comfort. - Inspiration
