About Phoenix Mansion Sales Office
Phoenix Mansion is a sales office located in Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province, China. The interior covers 1500 square meters on the renewal site of Fenghuang Mountain, close to the Yiwu River. The design concept comes from the regional culture of Fenghuang Mountain and follows the theme of welcoming the phoenix back to its nest. Natural forms guide the spatial layout, the furniture and the soft decoration. The interior is opened toward the nearby parks, green corridors and commercial districts. The aim is to link the indoor space with the local terrain while respecting the surrounding ecology.
Within the evolving discourse of contemporary interior architecture that seeks meaningful dialogue between inherited spatial traditions and present-day functional requirements, this sales office environment emerges as a sophisticated meditation on threshold, craft, and atmospheric refinement. The design demonstrates remarkable compositional intelligence through its deployment of a powerful bilateral symmetry that recalls classical pavilion architecture while embracing contemporary material expression through the bold use of charcoal-stained timber structural members arranged in precise geometric repetition. The central installation of twin woven spherical sculptures represents a particularly accomplished integration of artisanal object within architectural framework, their warm ochre and sienna tones providing essential chromatic relief against the otherwise restrained palette while their organic textures counterpoint the rectilinear precision surrounding them. The decorative screen featuring delicate scale-like perforations demonstrates technical virtuosity in metalwork while functioning spatially to filter views toward the verdant exterior garden, creating layered visual depth that enriches the visitor experience. One might observe how the highly polished floor surface transforms the lower register into a reflecting pool that effectively dematerializes the boundary between actual and mirrored space, lending the interior an ethereal quality despite its substantial structural presence. The clerestory lighting system proves particularly noteworthy for its integration of natural illumination through carefully proportioned skylights that create rhythmic intervals of daylight penetrating the elaborate timber lattice above. This work invites contemplation of how contemporary commercial spaces might achieve experiential depth through careful attention to craft, proportion, light, and material dialogue, suggesting that environments designed for transaction can simultaneously offer moments of genuine spatial poetry and cultural resonance.

- Design Challenge
- As the background of the project, Fenghuangshan's unique terrain and natural environment bring both opportunities and challenges to the design. How to harmoniously integrate the indoor space of a building with the external environment while respecting nature and protecting the ecology is a problem that requires careful consideration.
- Project Duration
- From March 2024 to May 2024, on the west side of the intersection of Chouzhou West Road and Danxi Road in Yiwu City.
- Operation Flow
- Starting from project background research, through the formulation, review, and adjustment of preliminary and deepening design schemes, entering the construction preparation stage including drawing production, material procurement, and construction team preparation, then executing construction tasks and conducting on-site supervision and necessary scheme changes, followed by furniture and soft decoration selection and spatial layout, and finally passing acceptance and delivery for use.
- Research
- From the early stage of project approval, we conducted project research through site research, user research, literature review, questionnaire surveys, interviews, and other methods to collect target customers' living needs, habits, and aesthetic preferences, providing data support for design. And invite experts in the fields of architectural design, landscape planning, interior design, etc. for consultation to ensure the professionalism and feasibility of the design scheme.
- Inspiration
- The concept originated from the regional culture of Fenghuang Mountain in Yiwu, which is the city of Fenghuang. As the core hub of global trade transactions, Yiwu can be said to be a place where thousands of people come to court and hundreds of birds flock to the phoenix.The design concept revolves around the theme of welcoming the phoenix back to its nest, depicting the beautiful scene of hundreds of birds worshiping the phoenix by eliminating the overlap between natural forms and the site.
