About Poly Conghua Sales Center

Poly Conghua is a sales center located in a suburban district of Guangzhou. The interior covers 1013 square meters. The design is based on the litchi, a local fruit of Conghua, and on the triangular elements of the site and its buildings. A large litchi art installation marks the entrance and leads visitors into the space. Further installations, structures and furnishings continue the same theme. Materials include plated metal, resin, leather, marble and acrylic fibers. The aim is to join local culture with modern interior design.

Within the evolving discourse of contemporary commercial architecture, 10 Degrees Design's Poly Conghua Sales Center emerges as a compelling meditation on the reconciliation of organic form with programmatic clarity, a synthesis that positions this interior firmly within the lineage of biomorphic modernism while addressing the specific experiential demands of the sales environment typology. The work demonstrates remarkable sensitivity to the phenomenological dimensions of architectural experience, employing the sweeping wooden balustrade not merely as circulation element but as spatial protagonist whose continuous curve generates a sense of embrace and welcome that transforms the transactional nature of the sales function into something approaching hospitality. The material palette reveals sophisticated understanding of how surfaces communicate: the warmth of wood grain activating primitive associations with natural shelter and craft tradition, the cool rationality of terrazzo grounding visitors in a sense of permanence and institutional credibility, the transparency of extensive glazing dissolving hierarchies between commercial interior and cultivated landscape. Particularly notable is the strategic deployment of the geodesic sculptural element and its accompanying water feature, which together establish a contemplative threshold zone that invites pause and reflection before engagement with sales programming proper. This architectural strategy suggests awareness of how spatial sequencing affects psychological preparedness for significant decisions. The lighting design demonstrates equal sophistication, with the pendant constellation creating intimate scale within the civic volume while the twilight hour captured in this documentation reveals how the space transforms as natural light recedes and interior warmth asserts itself. The viewer might consider how such environments mediate between commercial imperative and genuine hospitality, and whether the careful calibration of warmth, transparency, and sculptural gesture succeeds in creating authentic welcome within the sales context.

Unique Properties
For the memory of a litchi, what the project designer wants to do is not only a space with sales function, but also a humanistic ecological network with Conghua local characteristics. Combined with the characteristics of litchi fruit and architectural concepts, it is displayed in the overall space furnishings. When you are in it, you can see more humanistic thoughts and life emotions beyond the physical images in your walk, interaction and experience. "Litchi", a unique landmark art installation, its concept and memory are the genes that designers hope to inject into space design.

Design Challenge
Traditional humanities need to be combined with modern aesthetics to resonate. Against the background of appearance, the combination of interior decoration makes us feel the touch and breath like litchi pulp.
Project Duration
Guangzhou, May 2019.
Operation Flow
The litchi model at the entrance takes us into this litchi town. The atmosphere with humanistic characteristics brings a sense of intimacy. Entering it, artistic installations, architectural structures and decoration all carry this humanistic thought and life emotion
Research
The project is located in the suburb of Guangzhou, which has a long history. Although it is underdeveloped, it has a strong cultural atmosphere. Litchi is extracted as the entry point to modernize it, which is just combined with the local humanities and improve the sense of living level.
Inspiration
As a specialty of Conghua where the project is located, the litchi with sharp touch is related to the unique triangular elements of the project site and buildings, connecting the small fruit with the large buildings and spatial experiences of customers. When they enter into the space in the shape of a litchi, it seems that they are peeling off its shell to feel its touch and smell its fragrance: the evocative full touch and sweet smell.
