About Puer Community Real Estate Sales Center
Puer Community is a real estate sales center located in Pu'er, Yunnan, China, an area known for tea culture. The interior covers 2,700 square meters beneath a roof 10 meters high. The building has a curled tea leaf shape and glass exterior walls. Inside, a suspended wooden installation shaped like a tea leaf runs through the space, acting as the visual focus and guiding the functional layout. Sunlight passing through the glass roof meets the wooden structure and creates changing patterns of light and shadow.
Within the evolving discourse of contemporary interior architecture, Qingtao Ji's Real Estate Sales Center emerges as a compelling meditation on the intersection of commercial function and transcendent spatial experience, positioning itself within traditions of experiential design that privilege visitor immersion over conventional transactional environments. The installation demonstrates remarkable formal achievement through its commanding ceiling sculpture, wherein hundreds of precisely calibrated linear elements coalesce into a biomorphic form that evokes natural phenomena, perhaps the venation of a leaf, the spiral of a shell, or the opening of a flower, rendered at architectural scale with meticulous material control. The chromatic restraint of the pale wood or composite elements against the luminous marble surfaces creates a sophisticated tonal harmony that allows the verdant landscape model to function as both informational display and chromatic focal point, introducing organic vitality into the refined spatial envelope. Technical mastery manifests in the seamless integration of structural engineering with sculptural expression, as the ceiling installation achieves the appearance of effortless flow while necessarily resolving complex load-bearing and assembly challenges. The work engages productively with phenomenological approaches to architecture, creating a space that transforms mundane commercial consultation into pilgrimage-like arrival, the visitor drawn upward toward the luminous aperture while simultaneously grounded by the detailed topographical narrative below. One might observe resonances with organic modernism and parametric design traditions, though the work achieves its own distinctive synthesis through the warmth of its material palette and the ceremonial quality of its spatial organization. The panoramic glazing frames twilight landscapes that extend the interior meditation outward, suggesting that the development presented within participates in broader natural and cultural contexts. Visitors are invited to consider how architecture might transform expectation into wonder, transaction into contemplation.

- Unique Properties
- It is an interior design case for a sales center of a large-scale real estate project. The exterior walls of the special-shaped building are made of glass, with an interior area of 2,700 square meters.
Beneath the 10-meter-high roof, a wooden installation runs through space, forming a visual focal point and a clue to the functional layout.
The sun shining through the glass roof interacts with the wooden installation below, creating a changing light and shadow effect. - Dimensions & Packaging

- Production Technology
- The visual focus of this case is a suspended wooden structure device, and the spatial layout unfolds along this huge device. This device covers an area of more than 2000 square meters. It is composed of many components with different sizes. This device involves different technical links in modeling design, structural design, and integrated installation.
Modeling design: According to the designer’s idea, the styling of the device itself must be considered, as well as the light and shadow patterns generated by the device under different lighting conditions. The designer repeatedly adjusted the device model through the computer software developed by himself, and finally determined the shape of rice leaves which covers an area of 93 square meters and the combination of tens of thousands of wooden fences spreading along the meridians of the leaves, as well as the precise size and connection position of each component.
Structural design: The entire wooden structure device weighs more than 100 tons. It is fixed by a suspension method. Since the center of the building roof is made of glass, the designer also uses a steel cantilever beam. The completed structural design not only provides perfect visual effect, but also ensures absolute safety.
On-site installation: The entire device includes tens of thousands of components and 10 steel structure fixtures. All of them are installed on site. Since each component has a different size and style, the final installation stage must be carried through in the air which requires extremely high professional capabilities. To ensure the safety and work efficiency of the construction site, the designer will have to personally participate in project management at the construction site until the work is completed. - Design Challenge
- With an area of over 2000 square meters, tens of wooden structures have to be assembled in the air. The designer used an original way to connect the parts.
This method is inspired by the traditional Chinese wooden structure building connection principle. It has high installation efficiency, stable structure, and can ensure the safety of installation and usage. At the same time, the individual part can be exchanged without affecting the overall structure. - Project Duration
- Design Duration: March 2020 to June 2020
Date of Completion: October 2020
Project Address: Pu'er, Yunnan, China - Operation Flow
- The designer wanted to take advantage of the glass central roof and sunshine to create a unique spatial characteristic.
A large tealeaf-shaped installation is constructed under the roof. The device is carefully designed to reflect different patterns of light depending on the position of the Sun. Sometimes they coalesced into one giant leaf, and sometimes they broke down into millions of tiny leaves. These varying light and shadow effects make the space vivid and attractive. - Research
- The creation of the business center's overall space atmosphere
The integration of space and natural environment
The design, manufacture, and installation of large space projects
The construction of interactive effects between space installations and daylight - Inspiration
- The inspiration comes from the tea culture of the area where the real estate project locates.
The exterior of the building is a conch shape like the shape of cooked tea. The designer uses a tea-shaped device in the center in the center of the roof and wood lines to represent abstract leaf veins that extended around the space to continue the artistic concept of the building's exterior appearance. The connection is representing the transformation process of a new tea leaf that grows to mature. - Image Credits
