About Style Windsor Building Residence
Style Windsor Building is an interior design for the communal spaces of a residential property in Taichung, Taiwan. The design draws on Windsor Castle and on Tudor architecture, combined with contemporary forms. The shared amenities include a living room, a study, a bar, a dining area and a kitchen. The bar counter on the first floor is shaped like the bridge of a ship and stands at the highest point of the slab. Crystal lamps, stone surfaces and white stone door frames are used. The project covers about 1959 square meters.
Style Building's Style Windsor Building Residence presents a masterful synthesis of contemporary spatial design and classical material sensibilities, creating a residential reception environment that appears to meditate upon themes of arrival, threshold, and elevated domestic experience. The double-height volume establishes immediate architectural presence through its generous proportions, while the sophisticated material palette demonstrates careful consideration of how surfaces interact with light and each other to generate atmospheric warmth and visual richness. The centerpiece marble counter emerges as a particularly noteworthy element, its dramatically figured grey stone with flowing organic veination suggesting both geological timelessness and contemporary sculptural sensibility, the serpentine form introducing dynamic energy that prevents the symmetrical architectural framework from becoming static. The deployment of rosewood paneling across substantial wall surfaces creates an embracing envelope of natural warmth, the vertical grain patterns contributing to the sense of upward aspiration while the reddish-brown tonality establishes chromatic dialogue with the cooler grey stone and neutral floor surfaces. The twin crystal chandeliers serve multiple functions simultaneously as practical illumination sources, as vertical spatial markers defining the primary ceremonial axis, and as cultural signifiers connecting this contemporary space to European traditions of palatial grandeur and refined hospitality. The mirror treatments at the upper level and ceiling demonstrate sophisticated understanding of how reflective surfaces can multiply perceived space and introduce dynamic visual effects as viewers move through the environment. The integration of sculptural elements and floral arrangements suggests attention to the inhabitation of space beyond mere architectural shell, acknowledging that meaningful interiors require careful curation of objects that introduce human scale and cultural resonance. This work invites contemplation of how material choices and spatial proportions collaborate to create environments that elevate everyday rituals of arrival and gathering into experiences of beauty and significance.
